Police say the driver left the scene but was later located outside of the city of Kent
KENT, Ohio -- A Rootstown man has died after he was struck by a vehicle Thursday morning in Kent.
According to police, Richard Schoepe, 37, was hit in the area of North Water Street and Columbus Street about 10 a.m. and sustained severe injuries.
He was taken to Akron City Hospital by Kent fire, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Jason Grom a forensic investigator with the Summit County Coroner's office reports the cause of death was multiple blunt force trauma.
Police say the driver left the scene but was later located outside of the city of Kent.
No charges have been filed.
A GoFundMe page set up for Schoepe's family described him as "a beautiful father, husband, son, brother, uncle and friend."

According to online records and a long-time friend, Schoepe lived in Rootstown, but grew up in Kent.
