PERRY TOWNSHIP -- A woman has died after getting into an accident with a tractor-trailer.

Joanne Howell, 77, of Massillon was driving a 2008 Chrysler Sebring west on Faircrest Street about 1 p.m. Monday when she went left of center, according to the State Highway Patrol.

She was struck by an eastbound 1997 International semi driven by Donald K. Johnson, 63, of Sherrodsville.

She was seriously injured and was taken by Perry Township EMS to Aultman Hospital, where she died.

Johnson wasn't injured.

As a result of the crash, 100 gallons of diesel fuel was spilled on the roadway. The Perry Township Fire Department and a Stark County Hazmat crew assisted to clean up.

Howell wasn't wearing a seat belt, according to the Highway Patrol.

Perry Township police also responded to assist in investigating.
