Burglary suspect kicks out the rear window of the police cruiser and runs off into the woods.
MASSILLON -- Police credit a quick response and an alert officer for catching the suspects in a daytime burglary about 3 p.m. Monday on Dunkeith NW.
Police say they were called to the 1600 block of Dunkeith NW for a report of a burglary.
Police arrived and spoke with the victim and make sure she was OK.
Meanwhile, another officer was patrolling in the vicinity of the victim's home when he located the suspects fleeing the area on foot.
The suspects -- Josh Welsh and Cory Jackson -- were caught and put in the police cruiser.
A short time later, Welsh kicked the cruiser's rear window out, causing damage, and got out of the cruiser and ran into the woods
Police officers from Jackson Township Police and Massillon police secured the area and located Welsh underneath a disabled pickup truck in the woods.
He was arrested again.
Welsh, 30, was charged with felony vandalism, burglary, breaking and entering, escape, resisting arrest and obstructing official business.
Jackson, 27, was charged with felony vandalism, burglary, breaking and entering and also had two outstanding theft warrants issued by Massillion Municipal Court.
