NORTH CANTON -- The Hoover High School baseball head coach relieved of his duties last week will now be staying with the team, the school announced today.

Jeff Hite, who was let go during a meeting with Hoover Principal Tony Pallija, said the school officials told him that they believed "he was disconnected from his players."

He had declined to accept a reassignment to an assistant coaching position.

Today Superintendent Michael Hartenstein announced that Hite has agreed to stay as varsity baseball coach.

In a meeting today with Athletic Director Don Shimek and Pallija, Hite agreed to place a greater emphasis on communication with parents and players and the conduct of players and parents during games and play a larger role in Little League and U14 games and events.

"I am grateful to the members of community for their support," Hite said. "I am pleased to stay on as coach and am committed to making this program even stronger."
