NORTH CANTON -- Police tell WKYC Wednesday morning that Arlene Gimigliano was found and was taken to a local hospital.
Police said that, at 8:23 a.m., the North Canton Fire Department personnel found the missing adult, Arelene Gimigliano, alive and responsive in the water along the West Branch of the Nimishillen Creek.
She was discovered after one of the firefighters saw a shoe in the creek by the bridge located in the 1700 Block of Applegrove St. NW. in Plain Township. She was found approximately 125 feet (south) downstream.
The Plain Township Fire Department, along with the Stark County Sheriff's office, responded to assist at the scene of the rescue. The North Canton Fire Department transported her to Aultman Hospital for an evaluation regarding possible hypothermia and other health and safety concerns.
The City of North Canton has issued a missing adult alert Tuesday evening for a woman in her late 70's. Arlene Gimigliano is experiencing dementia. She walked away from her home on Irondale Cir. NE home in North Canton at approximately 6:45 p.m.
She left on foot and does not have access to a car. She is descried as 5' 05, 125 pounds with shoulder length, light colored hair.
She is possibly wearing dark blue or black shorts and a blue long sleeve shirt. She also is wearing an ID bracelet.
