When tragedy strikes in our schools police and emergency crews need to be prepared. A new program called Spot-on Response could help.
Vital information is available to emergency responders who have the tool. Blueprints, and evacuation plans are instantly available and accessed on the go.
James Morentz, Founder or Spot-on Response said "There are maps of the area, floor plans and emergency plans of the school. And, because its an app it works on everyone's smartphone."
Right now emergency plans are kept on paper or can only be accessed from specific computers. Now anyone with the proper password can have access at their fingertips.
The app also allows for silent or two way communication. Meaning teachers can also use the app to notify law enforcement of their student's location. They can also send pictures of their classroom to authorities.
First responders say its much easier to control a situation if everyone is on the same page.
Northfield Village Police Chief Mark Wentz said "They can look it up and they know exactly where the're heading. There's no questioning."
Nordonia Hills will be the first district in Northeast Ohio to use Spot-On Response to enhance school safety.
