SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP -- Township Hall was evacuated today after a woman fleeing Akron police ended up at the police station.

According to Springfield Township Police Chief John Smith, it's the first time in 25 years he's seen someone involved in a police chase run to a police station.

He said the incident happened about 2:30 p.m., and Akron police had their weapons drawn at the Sprinfield Police Department.

According to Smith, the woman's husband had called 911 on her following some sort of domestic incident, and she fled in a car pursued by Akron police.

Smith said that since by coincidence today is the national Peace Officers Memorial Day many onlookers thought the commotion was a part of festivities.

No one was injured. Springfield police were not sure if the woman or anyone else was arrested.

The incident is being handled by Akron police.
