AKRON -- Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh confirms that Judge Alison McCarty sentenced Demarco Wright, 20, of Akron, to 43 years in prison.

On Oct. 25, Wright and two co-defendants kicked in the door at 617 Brown Street, a University of Akron student's house, with the intent to rob the residents.

Akron Police arrived and found all three defendants in the residence.

On May 6, a jury found Wright guilty of three counts of aggravated robbery, four counts of kidnapping, one count of aggravated burglary, tampering with evidence, and eight firearm specifications.

On Feb. 14, co-defendants Teon Lipkins and Derrick Recktenwalt pleaded guilty to three counts of aggravated robbery, four counts of kidnapping and aggravated burglary, a felony with a firearm specification.

Recktenwalt was additionally convicted of tampering with evidence.

Lipkins, 21, of Canton, was sentenced to 12 years in prison on April 17.

Recktenwalt, 22, of Canton is still awaiting sentencing.
