TALLMADGE -- Tallmadge Police and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force conducted a three-day sting operation which ended at 3 p.m. Friday.

Investigators responded to people soliciting sex with children on various social media outlets. Those arrested arranged a meeting for sex with what they thought was a 14-year-old child, and then appeared at the stated location.

An undercover officer was used as a decoy and all were arrested without incident.

Other agencies participating in the operation included the US Marshal's Northeast Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force, Akron Division and the US Secret Service.

Arrested were:

  • Kevin J. Smith, 23, of Cleveland. He is charged with atempted unlawful sex with a minor and importuning. Smith is employed at a day care center in the Cleveland area
  • Dustin L. Bowers, 27, of Tallmadge. He is charged with two counts of disseminating matter harmful to juveniles, attempted unlawful sex with a minor and importuning
  • Brian H. Brown, 38, of Cuyahoga Falls. He is charged with disseminating matter harmful to juveniles, attempted unlawful sex with a minor and importuning. Brown is a Tier III sex offender who allegedly left a meeting with his probation officer to meet with the decoy. He was convicted of sexual battery in Cuyahoga County earlier this year
  • Daniel D. Miller Jr, 28, of Apple Creek in Wayne County. He is charged with attempted unlawful sex with a minor and immportuning.

All of these men have been incarcerated in the Summit County Jail. Each either will, or has had, an initial appearance in Stow Municipal Court. Criminal charges will be presented to the Summit County Grand Jury next week.

The Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force is federally funded under the direction of the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office.

In Ohio, there are 340 officers and federal agents who comprise ICAC.
