AKRON -- Dr. James Bressi testified in an Akron courtroom Wednesday that female patients accusing him of rape and other sex offenses mistook two bottles for his private parts.

Bressi stood up in court and pulled out both a soft and hard bottle from his pants pocket.

He said one bottle is a sweetener he uses for coffee. The other he described as an overall antibiotic.

"They've been in my left pocket in my pants for 10 years," Bressi testified. "They're obviously big and they tend to bulge out in the pants and they do rub up against the patients. And, as you can see, they're phallic-like in structure," Bressi said.

Some of his female patients testified that Bressi forced them to touch his groin area. Others said he rubbed up against them with an erection.

Bressi has denied he touched any of his patients for sexual gratification.

One patient, Carol, told the Investigator Tom Meyer she was not confused about what Bressi was doing to her.

"He still had his pants on, but I could feel it on my hands, rubbing up against me. I know what an erection is," she said.

Bressi attempted to undermine the womens' credibility, saying they suffered from stress and psychological problems and some were heavily-sedated.

He also believes he's the victim of a conspiracy involving his former partner, Dr. Robert Geiger, who bounced him from the Summit Pain Clinic, following complaints of inappropriate touching.

Closing arguments are scheduled for Monday.

He also believes he's a victim of a conspiracy involving his former patients.
