MAYFIELD HEIGHTS -- Anthony J. DiCicco has been re-elected mayor in Mayfield Heights after defeating Donna R. Finney in a runoff election Tuesday night. The final, unofficial vote was 1,819-1,268.

The two top vote-getters from the Nov. 5 election had to face off in a runoff after none of the three candidates received enough votes to exceed the 50 percent requirement to be declared the winner. This margin is required by the city charter.

In that election, DiCicco had 1,875 votes, Finney, 1,170 and Diane Marzano Snider, 1,101. Both Finney and Snider are on Council.

DiCicco had filled the unexpired term of former Mayor Greg Costabile since mid-January. Costabile, 47, resigned in January and pleaded guilty in late January to two misdemeanor ethics violations for failing to disclose income he received from two companies that have done business with the city.

Costabile was sentenced to a suspended 180-day jail term and one year's probation.
