CLEVELAND -- Mayor Frank Jackson shared a political and personal relationship with political strategist Arnold Pinkney,
Pinkney died Monday at the age of 83 after a battle with leukemia.
Pinkney worked on Jackson's campaigns and the pitch to pass the school levy that is funding the Cleveland's Schools Transformation Plan.
Jackson issued the following statement:
"The life Arnold Pinkney reflects the time in which he lived. He was a champion for equality and an advocate for Cleveland's children. His work in politics, education and business was driven by a passion to improve our community. he was my adviser on the campaign trail ; but more importantly, he was a friend and a confidante. He will be missed."
