CLEVELAND -- The City of Cleveland's new Chief of Regional Development is an experienced City Hall veteran.
Ed Rybka will manage and lead several departments, including Economic Development, Community Development, City Planning and Building and Housing.
Rypka will work to develop and execute Mayor Jackson's agenda for regional development issues and offer advice on projects involved in downtown and neighborhood development, remaking the lakefront and housing and community development efforts.
Rybka has almost 30 years of City Hall experience. Most recently he was the city's Director of the Department of Building and Housing and Interim Director of City Planning.
He was a former City Council member, been on the Board of Trustees of the old St. Alexis Hospital and a past President of Lourexis, Inc.
He is a graduate of John Carroll University, Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and a graduate of the Leadership Cleveland program, vintage 1993.
He's been a member of Polish and Czech cultural organizations and has received the Polonia Foundation Award.
He succeeds the retired Chris Warren.
