PARMA -- A major water main break in Parma closed the northbound lane on Broadview Road near Grantwood Drive overnight Thursday.

Around 2 a.m. water flooded part of the north bound road. Frigid temperatures caused for slick and icy conditions. Plow trucks quickly responded and began salting and pushing the water away from the break. Crews even built a small dam using asphault to re-direct the the water flow into drains.

The water company is still on scene repairing the break.

Extremely cold temperatures are wreaking havoc, not only on city water lines, but also on budgets. Water main breaks in many parts of Northeast Ohio have reached record number highs this winter season.
