CLEVELAND -- The city of Cleveland's new traffic cameras go into effect Friday.
The cameras are located at:
- St. Clair and E 105th
- St. Clair and E 152nd
- Woodland and E 30th
- Woodland Ave. and E 55th
- Lorain Ave. and W 65th
- Stokes Blvd. and Cedar
As Cleveland adds these extra cameras, many communities are scaling them back.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety found only 508 communities had red light camera programs as of last month. The Wall Street Journal says that number is down 6 percent from 2012.
According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, seven states have banned the use of traffic cameras to issue citations completely.
