INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indianapolis Colts had to fill a void at running back with running back Vick Ballard out for the season.

The acquisition of Trent Richardson gives the Colts the first and third players taken in the 2012 draft.

Richardson has rushed for 105 yards on 31 carries in the first two games. He rushed for 950 yards and a Browns rookie record 11 touchdowns last season.

After only carryingthe ball 13 times for 47 yards in the loss to the Miami Dolphins, Richardson said he wanted to a bigger role with the Browns.

He made similar remarks during his rookie season while he played much of the campaign with broken ribs.

Last season, Richardson averaged 95.8 yards in the five games he had 20 rushing attempts, and the Browns went 3-2. When he didn't get 20 carries, he averaged 45.1 yards and Cleveland was 2-8.
