The Kirtland High School football team (14-0) heads into Friday morning's Ohio High School Athletic Association Division VI state title game against Haviland Wayne Trace looking to be crowned champions for the second time in three years.

The Hornets defeated Coldwater 28-7 in the Division V title tilt in 2011 and fell to the Cavaliers 10-9 in the same championship game last season.

Kirtland has won 43 of its last 44 contests and has outscored its opponents this postseason by a margin of 161-35.

Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. at Canton's Fawcett Stadium.

Kirtland head coach Tiger LaVerde participated in a teleconference with media members from across the state on Monday. Watch the above video to hear what he had to say about his Hornets and the upcoming championship game.
