The long wait is over. College football is back.

And the opening weekend should have plenty of drama with three huge games that could impact the first season of the four-team playoff.

THURSDAY: Previewing the top games

TV SCHEDULE: For entire season

It all starts in South Carolina on Thursday night as the Gamecocks hosts Texas A&M. The Aggies will start life without Johnny Manziel against Steve Spurrier's team that has won 11 games in each of the past three seasons, but did not make a BCS game.

On Saturday, LSU and Wisconsin meet in Houston. The Tigers enter with questions at quarterback and receiver. A victory by the Badgers establish credibility for the Big Ten and give the conference's champion a strong case to be in playoff come December.

The last matchup of ranked teams this weekend is in Athens where Georgia hosts Clemson. This is a rematch of last year's back-and-forth duel won by the Tigers. Both the Bulldogs and Tigers will have new starting quarterbacks, but there should be plenty of points on the scoreboard at game's end.
