The Cleveland Browns added three offensive and three defensive players with the six selections they made in the 2014 NFL Draft last weekend, as well as three picks, including an additional first, fourth and sixth-rounder, they attained for the 2015 NFL Draft.

And their veteran players on each side of the ball are excited about the additions.

"They've been doing a great job upstairs," Browns outside linebacker Jabaal Sheard said. "(General manager) Ray (Farmer), he's been doing a great job this whole offseason, and continues to impress a lot of guys. We've been the talk of the town so far, so we'll see. We've got a lot to live up to."

Tight end Jordan Cameron added, "I think it's good. I was listening to him (Farmer) say earlier that competition is good, and he drafted competition. There's a lot of guys that are going to come to this team, and it's yet to be seen what's going to happen, but I'm excited to meet those guys and we'll get to know them over the next couple of weeks."

Sheard said he was "happy" with all of the selections, specifically cornerbacks Justin Gilbert and Pierre Desir, as well as linebacker Christian Kirksey.

"I'm going to accept the defensive guys first," Sheard said with a smile. "Anything we can do to improve our defense, I'm all for it. I'm happy about the offense too, because maybe, we can put up some points and get things going this year."

Newly extended cornerback Joe Haden said with the additions in the draft and through free agency, including safety Donte Whitner and the matching of an offer sheet to center Alex Mack, there is "a lot of positive momentum going on" in Berea.

"It's a lot of positive things going on, and everybody just wants to build on it," Haden said. "With Johnny (Manziel) and the rookie class coming in, they're going to have to prove themselves, all of them. It just brings in healthy competition. There's nothing better than that, when you have a lot of good players at a position. That's what you want on a team."

Outside linebacker Barkevious Mingo called the 2014 NFL Draft "a successful day' for the Browns because, he feels the defensive additions, as well as the selections of quarterback Johnny Manziel and running back Terrance West, will help them overcome a six-season double-digit losing streak.

"We got picks that, I think, will help our team win," Mingo said. "We've got a guy that's going to shut down the opposite side of Joe. We've got a quarterback who's going to throw the ball to whoever catches it. It's a win-win."
