Producer Dana Brunetti is one of brightest Hollywood lights on Twitter. We might have discovered his secret — tipsy tweeting his 66,700 followers.
Brunetti, who has produced a diverse plate of films ranging from The Social Network to Captain Phillips and the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey, made no bones about enjoying a few drinks before hitting Twitter when speaking to USA TODAY at the Emmy Awards.
Brunetti walked the red carpet as a House of Cards executive producer. When asked if he drunk-Tweeted, Brunetti shot out, "All the time. I drunk-Tweeted last night I think. My Tweets are so crazy that you cannot even tell whether they are (made) drunk or sober. I like to keep it lively that way."
By most every Hollywood rule, this is considered a bad idea. An exhaustive investigation by USA TODAY shows that Brunetti did randomly quote an Eagles song on August 23, which is pretty suspect.
Problems do come come up when he deals with Internet trolls.
"I have learned not to feed the trolls, I just don't respond," says Brunetti. "(But) that's difficult for me particularly if I have had a couple of drinks or I am just adamant about something."
Brunetti is a pretty fearless tweeter at all times. During the massive outcry during Fifty Shades casting in 2013, Brunetti happily retweeted people who criticized the decision, including one who said he would cast a "monkey" for billionaire Christian Grey.
Brunetti retweeted one fan who compared the casting announcement to the national outcry over casting Ben Affleck as Batman. "@DanaBrunetti knows how @BenAffleck feels today," the tweet said.
Brunetti did avoid tweeting during his Emmy celebration Monday night/Tuesday morning. But his post-Emmy tweet might have said it all. "I look rough today. Who's idea was it to put the Emmys on a Monday?"
