Cleveland sets new record low this morning
CLEVELAND - Northeast Ohioans awoke to another morning of below zero temperatures for the 7th time this year.
The National Weather Service says the temperature at Cleveland Hopkins Airport fell to three degrees below zero this morning at 7:35 a.m. which sets a new official record for the date.
The old record of minus three degrees was first set in 1988, but will go down as the new record under National Weather Service guidelines. It will also go down as the third new record low set in 2014. New records of minus 11 degrees were set on January 6th and January 7th.
Northwest Ohio saw temperatures closer to minus 10 degrees this morning with Findlay reporting the coldest temperature of all major reporting stations of minus 14 degrees, before the wind chill.
