ON THIS DATE....... On this date in 1937, the dirigible Hindenburg burst into flames and came crashing down in New Jersey, killing 35 people. The landing of the aircraft was initially delayed due to a thunderstorm. Although the reason for this diaster is still unclear, it is possible that a tiny spark from the thunderstorm ignited the highly flammable hydrogen.
