CLEVELAND – A man living in the West Park area of Cleveland saw his power go out only to witness "a big ball of fire" in his backyard.
The incident happened on Ernadale near Rocky River Drive.
Firefighters say they arrived at the scene around 8:45 p.m. after some trees had knocked power lines down.
The fire was still blazing around 10 p.m. despite the rain.
The Illuminating Company came to turn off the power.
Several neighbors were also without power in the immediate area. They were among 8,000 in Cuyahoga County without power around 11 p.m. Tuesday. The majority of residents without power at the time live in Lakewood. 5,000 households experienced power loss in that city. Euclid saw 1300 without power.
First Energy representatives said to expect power to be restored in the early morning hours Wednesday.
