It was a night full of fights in Cleveland Saturday night, with a big-fight feel.

Two hometown heroes, UFC Champion Stipe Miocic and Jessica Eye, were in action inside The Octagon at The Q.

Cleveland rolled out the red carpet as Miocic defended the heavyweight belt right in his own backyard.

It was a sold out crowd, a city abuzz, riding the wave that Stipe Started May 14.

It marked the beginning of an epic summer we could never have foreseen.

Euclid native Stipe Miocic, in a first round knockout, brings home a UFC Championship, saying

"I love Cleveland, man. 216 all day till I die," Stipe said in May.

Saturday he defended that championship in the city he loves.

The city where, on Saturday, restaurants filled with Stipe fans.

Where in a sold out crowd of 17,000 plus at the Q, they shelled out money left and right for Stipe stuff.

Dave Sholler is the UFC’s VP of Public Relations and Athlete Development, and has watched it grow globally.

“In the 10s of millions... Our fans travel sometimes upwards of 200 miles. We also have international fans who have made the trip and Cleveland has been fantastic. Of all the places I’ve been, I would put Cleveland right there top of the list in terms of energy and passion. When you talk about the atmosphere of a big sports town, Cleveland has it all and then some," said Sholler.

Remember also, the PRICELESS impact that Stipe had right after he won the championship and just before his wedding.

That’s when Miocic squeezed in time for sick kids with a Special Wish Cleveland, saying they are the real fighters.

One of the baddest fighters on the planet, with one of the softest good stuff souls.

That, is why we LOVE Stipe, beyond what he started.
