AKRON -- Beautiful weather lures people outside for fishing and food.
For Akron angler Regis Adams, getting outside and catching some fish is about as good as it gets.
"It's some beautiful weather for being outside. Can't beat it." Adams said while fishing along the shores of Nimisila Reservoir. "I've caught eight or nine. Should be thirty!"
For others, like Jamaal Hawkins, it just felt great to be outside.
"About time. Cabin fever, long winter." Hawkins said. "Time to come outside and do some stuff with the kids."
As Hawkins spoke, his daughter excitedly reeled in her line.
All that fresh air and fighting fish can sure work up an appetite. The warm weather has business at this Akron root beer stand hopping.
"We haven't stopped since we opened at 11," says Karen Cartwright. She's sort of an icon here at this B&K on Manchester and Wilbeth in Akron.
She continued, "It's been here 59 years, and I've been here 45."
In that time, she's seen lots of springs, and this year is one of the latest she can remember.
Their business is directly related to the weather. It's been tough so far.
"We usually open the beginning of March, and we usually have some nice days, but this is probably the first since we've been open, and it's April 1."
And that's no joke. It's been a long time coming for everyone, so get out there and enjoy it. Oh yeah, one more thing from Karen: "It just better not snow tomorrow."
Looking at the recent weather patterns, one might say Mother Nature has a sense of humor, but, for many, the joke is getting old.
