Here is a continuously updated look at developments as Northeast Ohio plunges to near historic low temperatures. The polar temperatures combined with the snow have created dangerous travel conditions across the area.
7:55 a.m.: Fire spokesman says 3 firefighters hurt battling fire on East 45th Street. All are okay according to spokesman.
7:39 a.m.: One firefighter injured as crews battled house fire on East 45th. Below zero temperatures impacted equipment.
7:27 a.m.: FirstEnergy says outages now number approximately 15,000.

7:13 a.m.: Horseshoe Casino in Cleveland says it will reopen today at 4 p.m.
7 a.m.: More than 17,000 people without power due to a failed transmission line. Most of the outages are in Cuyahoga County.
8 p.m. The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority has shut down a section of the Red Line between West Park and the airport due to damage and a broken down train. Riders will be shuttled on buses in the area of the shutdown. The rest of the Rapid lines are running but have significant delays. Snow and ice are also causing numerous buses to break down. 7:50 p.m. The Lorain County Administration Building in Elyria will be closed as will other county facilities. Twenty-four-hour operation departments are to report to work as usual. They include Lorain County 911, the Golden Acres Nursing Facility, the Charles Berry Bascule Bridge and the Lorain County Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security.
7:49 p.m. The Euclid Public Library will not open until noon Tuesday due to the weather.
7:15 p.m. The Lake County government are offices are closed on Tuesday, January 7 due to the severe temperature conditions.
6:35 p.m. The Salvation Army Corps locations around Northeast Ohio will serve as warming centers on Monday, January 6th, through Wednesday, January 8th, as needed, hours of operation vary by location. Please contact your local Salvation Army for more specific information.
The Salvation Army Massillon Corps located at 315 Sixth Street NE Massillon, OH 44646 will operate around the clock for the next 48 hours.
6:16 p.m. Northfield Park is not having horses running tonight but the Hard Rock Rocksino is open.
5:42 p.m. Elyria Municipal Court, 601 Broad St., will be closed Tuesday, according to Administrative and Presiding Judge Lisa Locke Graves.
5 p.m. ALL Cuyahoga County government buildings will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 7 due to extreme cold weather.
4:03 p.m. All Social Security Administration offices in the state of Ohio will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, Jan. 7.
3:26 p.m. Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 7. This closure affects the General Division, Juvenile Court, Domestic Relations Court, Probate Court and the 8th District Court of Appeals.
The Cleveland Municipal Court will also be closed.
Any planned Tuesday hearings will be rescheduled and any filings that are due Tuesday will be moved to the next day of business.
As of now, the courts plan to be open at their regularly scheduled times on Wednesday.
3:07 p.m.: Cleveland Public Schools announces district will be closed tomorrow, Jan. 7 due to cold.
3:04 p.m.: Republic announces it is canceling trash pick-up on Tuesday. Brecksville says trash pick-up is canceled for today and Tuesday and will resume on Jan. 8.

2:42 p.m. All Cuyahoga County courts will be closed Tuesday due to dangerous weather conditions.
2:37 p.m.: Lakewood Schools announces it will be closed again on Tuesday, Jan. 7. View closings: http://www.wkyc.com/closings/
1:40 p.m.: Cuyahoga County officials advise residents to shelter in place and stay indoors during the extreme cold. Residents are also asked to check on elderly neighbors and relatives.
12:50 p.m. According to various sheriff's departments, Sandusky, Huron and Ottawa counties have issued a Level 3 Snow Emergency, meaning residents can be cited and fined if they drive. Roadways are described as being extremely hazardous.
Under a Level 3, roads are closed to all traffic with the exception of emergency vehicles.
Officials in Sandusky County said if residents are required to go to work, they still could be stopped by a deputy. It is up to the deputy whether or not the resident will be cited, according to officials.
Erie County is under a Level 2 Snow Emergency. That means roadways are hazardous due to blowing and drifting snow and ice. Authorities recommend only being on the roadways if absolutely necessary. http://on.wkyc.com/1dajkDm
Richland County is under a Level 1 Snow Emergency, meaning roads are hazardous due to accumulated snow or ice. Drivers are asked to travel with caution.
11:25 a.m.: The Cleveland Museum of Natural History announced it will close at 3 p.m.
11:07 a.m.: Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerlad announces a 1:30 p.m. press conference regarding the extreme cold.
