Director's Alert: Monica Robins Named 7 PM Co-Anchor of Channel 3 News

WKYC announced this afternoon Monica Robins will become the new co-anchor of Channel 3 News at 7 PM beginning Monday, April 6th. She'll join current anchor Eric Mansfield on the broadcast anchor desk Monday through Friday at 7 p.m.

WKYC News Director Rita Andolsen points out, "Monica is an experienced anchor and reporter who brings energy and passion to the assignment."

In addition to anchoring the 7 p.m. broadcast, we are being told Monica will continue her signature medical reporting and noon anchor duties.

Monica replaces Carole Sullivan who is headed to San Diego with her husband, Mike Sullivan. Mike recently took a position with the San Diego Chargers. Prior to that, he worked with the Cleveland Browns organization.

Ms. Andolsen announced that Carole's final day on the air will be Friday, April 3rd.

Congratulations to both Monica and Carole on their new endeavours.

I Spy: The Sullivans Moving to San Diego?

Channel 3 Sports reported this evening that Mike Sullivan, the husband of 7 pm Sports Anchor Carole Sullivan is going to the San Diego Chargers.

Mike has been with the Browns since he and Carole returned to the Cleveland area as an Assistant Offensive Line coach for the team in 2007. Before that, Mike was assistant coach/offensive line at Western Michigan from 2005 to 2006.

Could this mean Carole is leaving us (again) at WKYC????

Cleveland or San Diego? Cleveland or San Diego? This is an easy one. Stay tuned.

Director's Alert: Anchor Changes Made at WKYC

WKYC announced Thursday that Carole Sullivan and Eric Mansfield will be moving to the 7 PM anchor desk soon as Channel 3 continues to "re-define" local television in a way that will have a positive effect on our community during tough times.

Carole returned to Channel 3 in a part-time capacity after moving to Michigan with her husband. Prior to that, she was the morning news anchor with Jon Anderson at WKYC.

Eric Mansfield has been Channel 3's Akron Canton Newsroom Chief and former anchor of the Channel 3 produced "Akron Canton News" which ended earlier this spring.

Both will bring a fresh new approach to our 7 pm newscast while Channel 3 News Anchor Romona Robinson will handle the 6 & 11 pm broadcasts as newsrooms across the nation begin shifting away from traditional two anchor teams for their newscasts.

While times are difficult, we look forward to the new challenges that our business has to offer and the opportunity this presents us in television to re-invent ourselves.
