"STILETTO BABIES"

This story really bothered me today (Click here to read).

Two Moms are now selling "stilettos for toddlers." The video shows a toddler trying to walk later falling down in the shoes called,"HEEL-ARIOUS."

The creators say the shoes are made only for infants up to six months old…and the heel is "squishy" for safety reasons, so a fall is not harmful.

Nevertheless, my question is why? Why are some makers of childrens items constantly pushing images of young girls all made up, baring their stomachs and navels and much more for commercial purposes. Parents have a hard time, as it is, making sure their girls dress appropriately. Now we're starting with the infants in "fake stilettos?"

I may sound like a prude, but I'm sorry this is sick to me. Most girls can't convince their parents to wear lipstick or any other make up until they reach the "tween" years, so why would we put sexy adult shoes on a toddler.

Lets face it the child doesn't know the difference, so is this for adult gratification? Oh, I forgot the creators said it was meant to be all for "GOOD FUN."

Hi Romona,

Wow I cannot believe this! And you are right when it comes to parents having a hard time to get their kids to dress appropiately let alone put stilettos on babies!

Isn't it amazing.
One of the web producers said it was too disturbing for him to watch.

I think the whole idea is pretty lame, but sickening? Disgusting? I wouldn't go that far. Did you take a good look at them? They aren't at all "sexy". 6 month olds can't walk anyway. I certainly wouldn't waste $35 on them for my 4 month old, but to get all upset over this is just drawing more attention to it and thereby generating more sales for them.

Apparently some people have money to burn.;)

For me its just the idea that someone thought this was cute?
I have to read some many stories about the sexual abuse of our children and to put them in outfits or "shoes" that are "adult-like," just bothers me.

Good for you for saying what so many of us are thinking! I can't believe the number of things I see parents doing to their children or allowing their children to do that are totally inappropriate. It makes me wonder if some people just view their kids as one more thing to play with, rather than a young mind to be nutured.

I'm old school and just feel a lot of us have gotten away from teaching our kids good morals and values...because its "cool or hip" to be different.
I'm amazed at some of the things we find "cute" these days that would have caused an uproar decades ago.
I know many won't agree with me but my blog gives me a chance to say what I feel away from the spotlight as an Anchorwoman.
