"The Gift of Gab"
I'm in the communications business, so I'm expected to be a good communicator. I should be able to speak clearly and concisely. Its vital, that my audience be able to understand the stories I read.
I knew growing up in Southern, Missouri with what we called a "southeast Missouri twang." In short, I spoke broken English that really didn't improve dramatically until in I entered college.
But what about people who don't have years of training in voice and diction and English courses. I found the perfect substitute: Toastmasters International. Its a group right here in our own back yard.
They are dedicated to helping ordinary citizens improve their verbal and leadership skills.
I was honored recently to receive the Chardon Chapters Community and Leadership Award.
I've included a few pictures of that special day last month.
This is a fantastic group that can help you with everything from learning to give the perfect speech, how to toast at a wedding, delivering a eulogy.
