In 1921, Silver Lake, CO which is located two miles high, received 76 inches of snow in 24 hours. This is the heaviest 24 hour total snowfall accumulation of record in North America.
In 1958, a 300 yard wide tornado ripped a 5 mile long path near Frostproof, FL. A 2500 gallon water tank was found one like from its original position. It is not known how much water was in the tank at the time.
In 1988, Death Valley, CA received 1.53 inches of rain in a 24 hour period.
