In 1967, an F4 tornado struck a school in Belvidere, Illinois, at dismissal time. Twelve buses were overturned, 13 students were killed, and 300 students were injured.
In 1982, Santa Ana winds fueled a wildfire that spread through Anaheim, California. The fire caused $50 million in property damage.
In 1996, tornadoes in western Arkansas killed four people, injured 45 and damaged 1800 homes in Fort Smith and Van Buren.
