Tornado Touchdown Confirmed In Wayne County
SMITHVILLE -- The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado touched down in Wayne County last Wednesday, June 17th around 7:30 p.m.The EF0 tornado was confirmed on Monday by the National Weather Service's storm survey team.
The path was intermittent and lasted for about 4 miles near Smithville in Wayne County.
The storm team observed a garden shed destroyed and two dozen trees snapped along the storm path.
The path was also evident in crop fields.
An EF0 tornado has winds between 65 and 85 miles per hour and is the weakest classification on the Enhanced Fujita Scale. The scale is used to correlate wind speed and storm damage.
