News release from the Rock Hall: 2006 Induction ceremony

ROCK HALL HOSTS EXCLUSIVE LIVE SIMULCAST OF THE 21ST ANNUAL ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME INDUCTION CEREMONY

Cleveland Museum is the only place outside of New York’s Waldorf-Astoria to see the entire, unedited Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

CLEVELAND (February 15, 2006) – The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum will host an exclusive live broadcast of the 21st Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Monday, March 13, 2006. The broadcast will begin at 8:00 p.m. (doors open at 7:15 p.m.). Exhibits will be open to tour during the event.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City on March 13. At the same time, visitors to the Museum in Cleveland will be able to witness the entire length of the 2006 Induction Ceremony for only $10. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum will simulcast the four-hour ceremony, including the unedited performances and all of the comments that are cut from the television broadcast. This one-time showing will be seen on several large screens throughout the Museum. Tickets for this event are currently on sale through Ticketmaster and at the Museum box office.

Previous Induction Ceremonies have been rich with colorful commentary, Inductee performances and celebrity cameos. “There are only two places you can see the inductions live and unedited: New York City and Cleveland,” said Todd Mesek, senior director of marketing and communications at the Rock Hall. “This group of inductees have all had a major impact on our music, our culture and our world. It is a night not to be missed.”

The 2006 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame “Performer” Inductees are Black Sabbath, Blondie, Miles Davis, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Sex Pistols. The Inductees in the “Lifetime Achievement in the Non-Performer” category are Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss. An edited version of the 2006 Induction Ceremony will air on television later in March (check local listings for dates and times).

This event is presented by Miller Light, Sima Products and WNCX 98.5FM. Tickets are $10 and are currently on sale. Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster at 216.241.5555 or the Museum box office.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is the nonprofit organization that exists to educate visitors, fans and scholars from around the world about the history and continuing significance of rock and roll music. It carries out this mission both through its operation of a world-class museum that collects, preserves, exhibits and interprets this art form and through its library and archives as well as its educational programs.

The Museum is open seven days a week from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. On Wednesdays the Museum is open until 9:00 p.m. Museum admission is $20.00 for adults, $14.00 for seniors (60+), $11 for children (9-12) and children under 8 and Museum members are free.

Del: We are so sorry to hear the news of Martha. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. It was always a joy to see you both at the Iowa game watches. May the Lord bless you.

I am not a smoker.I am not in favor of the ban as I feel it is unfair to single out one group of people.I agree with the poster at 12:24,I have asthma and must put up with breathing problems caused by perfume etc.,lets get rid of that too,I actually saw a man have to take his son out of Church because a woman wore so much cologne, perfume, the boy could not breathe he was seated 5 pews away from her.Drunk drivers kill more people than second hand smoke~lets label them with special plates and on second offense, off the road! Go after all offenders~not just a few..Noreen in Parma Ohio.
