My Memories Of Gerald,

As we all know Gerald was a musical Legend but he was soooo much more. He was a BEAUTIFUL person, his smile, his caring and giving heart, and the fact that most men try to have this macho heir about themselves, Gerald wasn't like that he was very sensitive and he cared about other people's feelings. I will forever LOVE and CARE for Gerald he was and will always be a LEGEND TO ME!!!

REST PEACEFULLY MY TREE,

LOVE,

I have been a Gerald Levert forever! I met him once and he was just as great in person as he is on stage! I am truly his #1 fan! I received so many calls the day he died, my Mom said you would think I was his widow! I have a picture of he and I and his music will play on in my heart forever!

Like Maya Angelou said, "A bird dosen't sing because it has an answer; it sings because it has a song" Gerald had a song that touched millions. He is gone, but never forgotten.

My favorite memory of Gerald, was his smile and his wonderful performances that left you full of joy. When you went to a concert, you knew you would be entertained. The relationship he had with his father was something great to watch as they performed together, and you witnessed the love between a father and son. His voice has been silenced, however we will have his music forever. God Bless the Levert family, friends, and fans.

I never seen Gerald in person but I remember when I was around 6 or 7 years old I was on my way to Greensboro, NC to take my cousin to college and Casanova was playing. I knew the words to the song and kept singing it. I had no clue what I was singing obviously but I remembered that I loved the song and it was real catchy. Gerald Levert was a talented man and will be missed by all of his family, friends and fans.

I would like to share my fond memory of Gerald Levert. I really cared about he and his music even though I never had an opportunity to talk with him personally. I saw him during his last concert in Kansas City, MO and he gave me a teddy bear which was a common practice for him during his concerts. The special thing about my bear, a lady tried to snatch it as he handed it to me and he pulled it back and made certain he placed it in my hands. I will always cherish that moment and the bear. The funny part, I can't carry a tune in a bucket, he was singing Mr. Too Damn Good and so was I but I was thankful he could not hear me singing loud, off key and out of tune.

My intent is to share yet another story of how Gerald had a positive impact on someone's life. I have many stories of how Gerald's music gave me hope, encouragement and motivation to gain empowerment over my life. I was a high school dropout and now all but dissertation towards a Ph.D.

I thank you for your audience. Just needed to share with someone who might be able to share a positive word with the family, if you deem it appropriate.

Have a very blessed day!

MY BEST MEMORY OF GERALD WAS THE FIRST TIME I SAW HIM IN CONCERT, WOW, I WAS AMAZED. AT THAT TIME, I TOLD MY BOYFRIEND THAT I WOULD LEAVE HIM EVERYTHING JUST TO BE WITH GERALD, FUNNY BECAUSE I NEVER GOT THE CHANCE TO MEET HIM IN PERSON. BUT I DID ATTEND EVERY CONCERT THAT CAME TO HAMPTON ROADS, VA. I WILL TRULY MISS HIM. GERALD, I LOVE AND TO THE LEVERT FAMILY, MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY.

To Levert family, I know the pain of losing a loved one. I began to study with Jehovah Witnesses and learned the truth about death. Even though the loss hurt, knowing the truth about life and death gave me comfort. I know that I will see my loved one again if I do the will of Jehovah. Psalms 83:18 says "Let all know that I am Jehovah." I love that scipture because He is wonderful God. He will comfort you all until you see Gerald again.
Take Care, Prayers are with you all.

Gerald Levert. What can I say?? I grew up listening to him. I feel like we've grown up together. To watch him from his days w/ Levert..to the magnificent artist that he has grown to be...I put him in the same category as "one of the best". He sits alongside Marvin Gaye, Luther Vandross, Barry White...there will never be another like him..I'm afraid for

I have seen him so many times in Memphis, TN, with my husband, who has also gone on. I know the lord will watch over them both. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to see him live and in person. He was truly one of the greatest entertainers I have ever seen or heard. My prayers go to the Levert family on this great loss. May you find peace in the days ahead. I loved Gerald, he shall never be forgotten. Tara Tate, Memphis, TN

I've often been told that I have an old soul. But when I heard Gerald Levert's voice, I thought, that's new flavor with an old soul. I still remember the days that we used to dance our hearts out to Coolin' and Casanova. And seeing Eddie and Gerald in concert was such a bonus in my life and I wouldn't trade that for the world. I am deeply saddened and shocked, but yet celebrating his homegoing. I know he is in a much better place. And just as I was told when my grandmother passed away...GOD LOVES HIM BEST!!! RIP IN PEACE, GERALD, WE LOVE YOU!!! And to the family, may God surround you with his undying love and the comfort of his Holy Spirit. Though there is no true consolation but time, may God bless you!!!

I was fortunate enough to meet Gerald Levert some years back. It is so funny because it was during a video audition for Men At Large (Use Me) and I was terrified & really had no idea how I let my friend talk me into auditioning. Well once your number was called you had to go into a room that contained Eddie, Gerald & Men at Large. And they asked me to dance I was "so" scared but I danced a little & I felt more comfortable after Gerald flashed that famous smile...and I continued on with confidence.

He will truly be missed & my sympathy & prayers go out to the LeVert Family. And it is a sad time but we should all be thankful that we had the chance to experience Gerald for so many years, and we will have his wonderful music to carry on "FOREVER". And one of my all time favorites that will always make me smile & think of Gerald is "I've Been Waiting".

I know Gerald is loved all over the world...and no disrespect to anyone but I'm from Cleveland & no other city LOVES him more than us. He was Cleveland, He put Cleveland on the map forever.

I'm so glad that I have an opportunity to pay homage to such an awesome performer.

To his family, may God Bless you and give you His Peace that passes all understanding through Christ our Lord.

My fondest memory of Gerald was watching he and his father Eddie on the Essence Awards a few years ago where they were the musical guests to honor a group of "Fathers Against Violence," all of who lost their own children to violence in the streets.

They sang "You Are the Wind Beneath My Wings" which they performed in such a superb manner; not a dry eye was in the house.
Because not only was it a tribute to the fine gentleman for their work to rescue children out of violence, but it was love-filled tribute to each other as Father and Son. I'm so glad that I taped that show so that I can go back and re-visit that memory that truly showed what a strong father figure can bring to a young man's life.

Though he has fallen "asleep" Gerald will always be rememered in this life now and always. Thank you Gerald for ALL of the wonderful memories of you.

May God add a Blessing to All...

I remember seeing Gerald at a concert here in Jacksonville, FL and because my husband knew how much I loved Gerald, he lifted me up above 100s of women and stood me on a banister so that I could see Gerald as he passed by. While his security guard kept screaming at me to get down (of course I wouldn't until I got a good look at Gerald), Gerald stopped in the midst of all his fans, took my hand, and said "Sweety, please don't hurt yourself". I've been in love every sense. Gerald I love you and I will truly, truly miss you. My heart hurts for your family, friends and loved one, but we know that you're in a better place and although we will miss you we will also continue to "HOLD ON TO YOU, BECAUSE YOU ARE A VERY SPECIAL KIND". WOW! AMAZING! HONORABLE! Are a few words I can conjure when thinking of Gerald LeVert & the ENTIRE LeVert family. Gratitude to WKYC.COM for keeping us all abreast on the service, great footage for those of us that weren't in attendance but desired to share the experience. I was really impressed with all the news breaks & the complete coverage. Again, this news outlet will never know how important the coverage meant to me & my family and numerous others around the world. I really felt like I was apart of the memorial tribute & thanks again to WKYC and their entire team! Hopefully, this will generate some interest in those that weren't really familiar with Gerald LeVert, to seek why the R&B community & Cleveland community along with the vast amount of fans across the world, LOVED & cherished this man & his music. A hint can be found on the Groove On CD (tracks 2-12) then come back & tell me if U understand why we feel like we do. Then I'll sprinkle a little G & G-spot into your soul. (smile) But God Bless Ms. Martha & Mr. Eddie & the entire LeVert family. I'll continue to pray for your strength & peace!

My best memory of Gerald Levert was attending the "Father and Son" concert in Washington, DC. He came in the audience singing while walking aroung Constitution Hall, and although I was with my husband of 13 years, I took advantage of the opporutnity of being so close to Gerald. I reached out and wiped the sweat off his face while he was singing....he was so soft.....just like a teddy bear. My husband almost lost his wife that night:)

The song that touches me the most was Hold On To Me. NO words can express the pain u all are going though right now but your love will hold your family together forever. The memories of your love one is so Precious please don't for get that. GOD DOESN’T MAKE MISTAKES. I understand the pain cause I lost my Brother in 2004 at the age of 42 and my Father at the age of 72 as well. Now I just lost my best friend my precious mother in August of this year she was only 64. It hurt so much to loose someone that you love so much. Sometimes we find our selves questioning our heavenly Father why did you take them from us Lord when they were so young and precious to us. I try each and every day to try to understand, but what keep me going is I no God don't make mistakes and I no all of us will one day go down that road as well. But with the love my family share and me that's what help and my wonderful children. You know my baby girl age 9 comes up to me every day and say mommy did you have a good day today and my son age 11 hug and kiss me every day and that's what keep me going the love. He was such a genuine, fun loving person and that radiated from him. I know his spirit is in Heaven and he will be missed by all of his fans. A young legend God needed him more.
