The worst experiance is today at work my ex's girlfriend works with me and he came to work and asked her to marry him in front of me.
This is the worst. My husband died in Aug.My daughter died at birth at Christmas tim in 1950.My son died in 1991 at 36 from a blood clot in his brain.I am thankful I have our granddaughter, husband, and great grandson. We are trying to pull it together for the little one.
My favorite Christmas memory is when I was little. It was the first time that my sister and I were allowed to go to my grandma's for dinner without my parents (mom wasn't feeling well). When we walked into the house, we didn't recognize anyone, but it had been a long time since we had seen everyone and there are always new people coming and going. So, we didn't think much of it. We out all our presents under the tree and sat around drinking soda and ate cookies. Finally after about 5 -10 min someone finally asked who we were. We were a couple houses down the street! We gathered our gifts, apologized and left! We still laugh about this to this day (15 years later!)
I remember as a little girl sneaking down the stairs to look at the lights on the christmas tree. When I woke up and ran downstairs the next morning, the tree and all the presents were gone. Because I had gotten out of bed and did what I thought was innocent, I never did get any presents that christmas.
My worse and best were the same christmas. We lived in Niagara Falls, N.Y and we were heading to our hometown of Massillon, we had sent our four kids christmas gifts on ahead of time (because of Santa of course) and got stuck in blizzard conditions in a small town in Pennsylvania. We among hundred of others were escorted to the local firestation and school to wait out the storm. The town came together and gave all the children small gifts from Santa and provided a hot meal for all of us. Their generosity towards all of these strangers was amazing and uplifting. the next day we were able to go back to NY but not to Ohio. We got back to Niagara Falls late on Christmas Eve and the only store open was a 7-11 where we purchased deli ham, chips and wonder bread for our christmas dinner and picked up some trinkets for gifts for the kids. My children are now all grown but that is still one of their favorite christmas memories.
I would say my best christmas was 1968 when my brothers and I got 3 speed bikes with banana seats and butterfly handlebars, the weather was terrible so we had to ride them in the basement in circles. For my worst christmas it was last year when I had to have my dog Bandit put down on christmas morning,,I still miss you Buddy..
The best holiday memory is of visiting a friend in Painesville and participating in a city-wide Christmas Carol walk in which everyone converged at the town square while singing Silent Night. What a beautiful experience sipping hot chocolate under a gazebo adorned with sparkling lights as the snow blanketed the crisp night.
