How can we save money if we are barely getting by on our paychecks now.

It is tough to save money when one teaches in a catholic elementary school. I find I have to work several part time jobs as well just to keep this little bungablow I bought 3 years ago. Taxes are up, insurance is up, a car repair here and there, what is next? I am pretty frugal, and scrounged to put away 2,000 in my IRA. I hope I can do this again this year.

Yes of course we do. We both hold down steady jobs and looking at all of the people around us who are in debt up to their eyes, it made us realize that we don't want to be like that. I enjoy the fact that I have the reserves that I need in case of an emergency or if I want to take a trip. On top of that I am only 25 and I would stake that I have more money in savings than more people twice my age, not including a retirement fund.

I AM GOOD AT SAVING MONEY!! I HAVE $5O EVERY PAY GOING TO MY SAVINGS ACCOUNT AUTOMATICALLY. THIS IS AT LEAST $1200 PER YEAR FOR ME. I ALSO SAVE ANY EXTRA MONEY I EARN WHEN I WORK OVERTIME.
AFTER RAISING MY SON BY MYSELF WITH NO CHILD SUPPORT, I BEGAN RECEIVING IT WHEN MY SON WAS 18 AND ON HIS OWN. HIS DAD OWES ME OVER $20,000. I USE THE $200 PER MONTH TO REWARD MYSELF FOR ALL THE STRUGGLES I ENDURED RAISING MY SON WITH NO HELP FROM HIS DAD. I HAVE IT AUTOMATICALLY DEPOSITED TO MY SAVINGS ACCOUNT TO HELP WITH MY YEARLY VACATION.
I PAY $50 PER MONTH FOR PRESCRIPTION MEDS. MY JOB REIMBURSES ME AT THE END OF THE YEAR UP TO 80%. FOR 2006 I GOT BACK $480 WHICH I DEPOSITED TO MY SAVINGS ACCOUNT.
AT THE END OF 2006 I HAD SAVED AT LEAST $5000 TOTAL! NOT BAD, HUH? I TOOK A WONDERFUL VACATION TO LAS VEGAS FOR CHRISTMAS THIS YEAR. AMD I STILL HAVE $2000 LEFT IN MY SAVINGS ACCOUNT. LAST YEAR I WENT ON A 7 DAY CRUISE!!
HERE'S A SAVINGS GAME. SOME PEOPLE ON MY JOB HAVE A SAVINGS CLUB WHERE THEY SAVE DOLLAR BILLS THAT HAVE THEIR INITIAL ONT THEM IN THE CIRCLE ON THE FRONT OF THE BILL. THEY USES THEIR FIRST, LAST AND MIDDLEW NAMES. SOME USES THE INITIALS OF THEIR SPOUSES, KIDS, OR GRANDKIDS ALSO. THEY FOLD THE BILLS TIGHTLY AND PUT THEM IN A JAR. THEY MAKE IT FUN BY TRADING DOLLARS WITH EACH OTHER ON OCCASSION. THEY NEVER COUNT THE BILLS. AT THE END OF THE YEAR THEY TAKE THEM OUT. MY SUPERVISOR SAVED $500 IN 2006 THIS WAY! GOOD LUCK IN YOUR SAVINGS FOR 2007!!!! V

Mr. Anonymous, According to your post and all of its grammar/spelling errors, one would assume that you might not be as well educated as "Mr. $32,000". Perhaps if you got a bit of an education, you might be able to get a job that allows you to save $32,000 per year.

To the person that calls Mr. 32000 greedy well I think it’s great that he could save this amount. This is America everyone has the same opportunities. My wife and I are products of the Cleveland school system. She came to this country when she was 9 yrs old and could not even speak English. My dad died when I was 13, with a bank account worth $750. We both worked are way through CSU working full time jobs. Last year we saved $116,000. Our net worth is 1,300,000.
Don’t give me this bunk that poor little me, work your butts off get a better education.

How can you save when the banks, who charge high rates on credit, won't pay even 1% to savings. You loose money given the inflation rate. Harold in Painesville.
