Monday night, Channel 3 News shared video of Cleveland Councilwoman Pierce Scott as she spoke out about the city's latest deadly police shooting.
Some black councilmen and women are tired of being blamed for supposedly not doing enough about alleged police misconduct.
That criticism is coming from some ministers, civil rights leaders, and politicians.
The shooting of 17-year-old Angelo Miller, rekindled that issue, at a council caucus today.
"This council has to stand together -- every time someone wants to complain about what's going in the city," Councilwoman Pierce Scott said. "It falls back on the laps of the black council people and what he should say is, we need all 21 of us to stick together."

Who cares what a Council woman has to say i find it funny that the black community is quick to always blame the police but they will NEVER blame the black thug with a criminal history. They dont want a safe community they want a community were they can do as they please and get off scott free when they commit a crime.
Sounds like this little punk got what he deserved.
By killing him now, we saved the people of Cleveland from numerous future crimes that he would have committed.
I second that! Where have their parents been? Making more welfare babies? Perhaps trying to score some more crack? It's time we stop blaming others for a situation that is propagated over and over in poor black communities. Criminals need to be punished, communities need to be safe, by what means that is accomplished I am OK with.

I am disheartened by the comments before mine. True, today’s parents do need to take the blame for what their children do, but lets not make it a black/white issue. White kids are killed by police as well as blacks. The issue is the amount of force that is being used when dealing with the public by police. If there was a gun and the police officer felt that his life was in danger, then that officer needs to do whatever he or she needs to do to protect themselves. Now if the officer was not in danger, and used the same amount of force, then we, the taxpayers will pay his family more in restitution than what we would spend tiring to rehabilitate them through the prison system.
anonymous: First, regarding the racist bigot sterotyping: White people are on welfare, make babies they cannot support, use and drugs and alcohol are neglectful parents,and get in trouble with the police, just like black people. What they don't get is killed by the police. According to the Coalition for Juvenile Justice and the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court statistics, what they also get are more lenient sentences. Check the statistics or go to their web sites for yourself. The only issue to be addressed is whether or not someone be killed by a gunshot to the back and be a danger to the officer and there is no gun? Think about it.

A Cleveland Police Officer has one of the most difficult jobs in the world. If they would have found a way to arrest him, they would have been blamed for "allowing him to go free" when he hurt or killed someone innocent later in his life. If they shoot him, they are racist murderers. Thanks to this officer and all the officers that do their job knowing they cannot win. EXAMPLE Recently an accused rapist was set free and then went and shot his accuser in the face. If the police had shot and killed him 30 seconds before he commited the crime, they would be criticized because he too was black.
I think it's unaccetable that the Council woman found it necessary to stand up in a professional meeting environment and yell and scream, how unprofessional of her. While I agree it's never easy to lose a child etc... we do need to start holding everyone involved accountable, the policeman involved is not working currently with pay as is standard procedure when are we going to stop blaming the police for doing their job and hold the parents accountable, where were they when their son was out after 1am?? I really am disgusted by this council womans performance.

Your right white people DO commit crimes and are on welfare i will not argue that. But when a white thug criminal is shot dead by the police white people say GOOD one less thug to worry about. The black community calls Al Sharpten to lead a protest then that convicted felon Art McCoy who hates the police spews his hate on a local radio station.
I am involved in an interracial relationship and my gf is african american, we talk about this problem alot and have come to this conclusion. We are just sick of black on black crime but never find a black council person complaining about it, we are sick of kids walking our streets selling drugs and wearing their pants around their ankles (should be a law like virginia beach has where children as well as adults get fined for wearing their pants low enough to see undergarments, also get ticketed for swearing in public areas)She tells me that the black community thinks its a joke when they blame white people for their problems because they know that the police will arrest less african americans that commit crimes and are let go for lesser crimes. Then she said that a minority of african american who don't have money always complain about their food in a restaurant just to get their meals paid for or they call the companies HQ to get a free meal gift certificate even if there meal was fine. We as a white community need to stop being fooled, we are so passive and NEVER march in the streets when our white children are killed and our reverends don't protest, we know if our child was arrested he/she was doing something wrong and we either leave them in jail or find counciling for them, we don't march in streets and find others to blame for problems your race create. March in your dam streets and clean them up, get rid of the punks on the front porch and the thugs in the streets help your homeless and the elderly and Go to work (not selling drugs) and stop playing your stupid rap music for me from your car because I don't remember asking you to entertain me. Now this might sound like a letter of hate but, its far from it. Until you clean up your streets and make areas decent for people to live and children to have fun riding bikes and going to school and know nothing but happiness then and only then will you NOT have the police disturbing your neighborhood, It truly is not skin color that brings the police its the crime and the children that bring them. The last time I went into a welfare office Isaw for every black there were at least two to four white people this was 17 years ago. And in my neighborhood alone, I see both black and white crackheads. so cleveland has it just as bad as Ido here in Canton. so itis everyone's problem. so every one stop bickerin' and help solve the problem.
I wonder why the city is in the shape it's in?.......cut the dramatics and work together to get the job done.

When I do my job, I put my life at risk by having to park downtown Cleveland. Not because the Police aren't doing what is right, but because too many people like this council woman don't want the spotlight shone on the source of the cause for most of the vacant buildings, muggings on Public Square, stolen cars, knifings throughout the city etc.
Sounds trivial, but teach responsibility to our children and we will have a new generation of people who care!
Theatrics for television and for political gain...where are the Preachers, Art McCoy, parents/Grandparents, mr. Preacher and Mr./Mrs. Council person at 1:45AM? Sound a sleep knowing the officer Lundy's of the world are out facing the dangers of the city.
If all of the above are so concerned, get out on the street and help solve the problem when it occurrs! You all put on a great show for your own gain wether it be political or financial or just to see yourself on the TV.
Officer Lundy lives, works, serves and try's to make the City of Cleveland a better place when most city employees want to move out.

This is why this City is in the state it is in and the neighboring Cities are in fear of it spilling over into other neighborhoods !The MAYOR has been AGAIN "NON VISIBLE" and you wonder why former native HALLE BERRY didnt let the sun set on her before she left over the weekend .Who could blame her ....NOW if it was in LAKEWOOD, PARMA,STRONGSVILLE,BEACHWOOD, SOLON, ETC..... This is really amazing the way people think. It's not about who's who or who's grandstanding. Society as a whole is so disconnected from GOD..Everybody wants to blame everyone else except themselves. You can not live in a home with anyone and not know what they are doing or are capable of doing. You have an inner spirit that tells you these things. Stop blaming everyone else for your own mistakes. Let go and Let God. Stop protesting about the police, the politicians, the ministers, etc. Stop this black on black crime issue. The police are doing what they are suppose to do. When any of us need help with anything that go wrong in our life, the first people we call are the police and Jesus, yet we disrespect them both. Go to church and pray for this family, the police, and this city. Most of all pray for each other and reach out and see what you can do to help, and not harm each other. STOP BLAMING AND START SEEKING GOD FOR HIS GUIDENCE AND LOVE. I HOPE THIS MESSAGE REACHES THIS ENTIRE CITY AND BEYOND. IT'S NOT ABOUT US ANYMORE, IT'S ALL ABOUT HIM.

This is typical Cleveland politics. The black community in Cleveland is quick to play the vicitm card in situations like this. However, they do nothing about the "thugs" in the black community that cause all these problems. You know, we've become less and less responsible. we no longer support our neighbors, our communities. All humans express feelings, even council women. we are so selfish and self seeking now a days. how can we look down if we're not bending over to help. We can all say whatever we think. Let's get into the solution instead of blaming and fault finding. I'm not in a positon to say who deserves what. It's easy to say how to raise a child if you have children that are faily cooperative. We can't always say that a child wasn't raised right when he/she does wrong. We are losing our unity people. Let's support these families. The officer as well as the mother who lost her son. Both families may be going through difficult times. Let's get honest and stop being angry. We don't have to support wrong doing, but lets admit the truth when we know in our hearts the kind of child we have and what they may be capable of. In spite of that, we still need each other. "We" not "I" not "You". Okay we all got an opinion. Now what.
I spent many years practicing almost exclusively in the Juvenile Court. I considered it a good day when a single parent showed up for a child's hearing and an even better day when that parent was sober. There is plenty of blame to go around, but casting blame is the biggest issue that actually needs to be solved. Instead of blaming an officer for shooting an alleged child, why not ask why that alleged child was out in the middle of the night in a stolen car with a gun and baggies of crack in his pants cuffs? Why not ask why the parents of these alleged children only show up when there is money to be made by filing lawsuits or attention to be achieved by screaming soundbites at the news cameras? Why not ask why the educated leaders of the black community are allowing the criminal elements of the black community to be their standard-bearers?
A big piece of the problem is a Juvenile Justice system that is inherently flawed and overseen by Judges elected more for their last names than their ability to judge.
Why are criminals who, if adults, would be looking at 10 years in prison receiving probation and "counseling?" Why are kids allowed to roam the streets of downtown Cleveland at all hours of the school day?
As to the police, I would LOVE to see a massive "blue flu" strike the force one day. How many of the hypocrites calling the police murderers and racists would be dialing 911 screaming for the very help that they allegedly disdain when there are no police around to protect them?
I don't believe that I ever met a police officer who seemingly made it his mission to go out and find someone to kill each night. I caught many an officer in a lie and I called them out on their lies, but looking back the lies, in my opinion, were primarily for the purpose of making sure that a thug who everyone knew committed the charged act was made to account for his (or her) actions.
It is time to stop screaming racism and brutality every time a police shooting occurs -- the black community needs to look inward at the problems that they are festering by casting blame on those whose duty is to serve and protect and call out those members of the community who are the true criminals. Stop coddling drug dealers...stop protecting murderers and rapists and thieves by not cooperating with the police. Stop the selfish, self-serving behaviors and look at the problems out there that are solvable: Teen pregnancy, absentee parents, massive truancy, media influence that glorifies gang violence and drug-dealing, purchasing "bling" and fashion nails instead of feeding children, to name but a few. Yes, these problems are indeed solvable but ignored in favor of taking the lazy and easy route -- just blame the cops!
Black Cleveland: You are very good at standing up and fighting, but you are aiming your venom at the wrong target! Target those in your community who are responsible for putting a police officer in the position of having to decide whether or not to pull the trigger. Stop thinking that every police officer is out to get you and work with the police to stop the very real problems that are eating away at your community. Turn away from "leaders" who preach hate and advocate for more dependency-creating handouts and work with those who preach education and work ethic. Only then will the tide begin to turn...

I am so sick of the Black Community blamming White people for their problems and the police for their problems and just about anybody they can find to blame. You know I used to think that most black people were good and they were getting a bad rap just for the color of their skin, Now I have come full circle... A majority of black people cover for one another when it comes to crime, half are afraid of retribution should they help the police and the other half lie to the police because they don't want to give up one of their own to the po-po. To me both sides are cowards. I am sick of your whinning about how bad cops are or how bad white people are...Just shut the _ _ _ _ up! No wonder why Cleveland had just a little less of a loss of people than New Orleans. White people who have generally supported the black community for years but they have given up and moved to other cities where they don't hear this cr@p. And also mr and ms black community where are your famous people who support you? Any famous local television personalities? Any famous athletes? Any black police officers? When will you be happy? after all the white people are either murdered or move from the city so you can run your own agenda's and completley wreck an entire city? I also think that the television stations can work together and have their African American personalities create peace and calm and to start programs to clean up cleveland one thug at a time. But do you know why they are not doing that? Because the AA personalities live in areas where there are no crimes or very little, they are embarassed at the way that their fellow bretherened live. Why don't professional sports players live amongst the black community? because they too are embarassed at the way you live and kill each other,sell drugs and let your kids run wild on the streets. Why don't you print out how many black on black crimes occur as opposed to police on black crimes and if you have anything remotley close to that being equal then I will listen. You know what else I am tired of? having to be quiet because I am white so I will not be quiet anymore. Famous black people will NOT come to your rescue they love livin in the white mans world ( no death and no blited neighborhoods in which they also know YOU created ) So in sumation ... I totally agree with what the last person wrote. I was always wondering why the old money was never spent here in Cleveland but, spent elsewhere in other cities or states because they saw what direction the city was going. I hope everybody knows what old money is, if not ask someone rich. Not one black person will really rationally think about what Cleveland will be like 10 years from now when almost all of the people are gone, both through urban blite and death. You will have made major corporations leave, white people leave or at the very least move to the burbs, cause the schools to close and become overcrowded and for your children to become more uneducated as they already are because the parents won't spend time on the babies they already have (most of the time they leave their children with the grandma because they have to party,sell drugs,kill others or make more babies) Yes black people the truth hurts doesn't it? And yes you'll write your rebutal and blame more white people or the police for all that your community has done to itself so we throw more money into your community to pave your roads or find (if your lucky) a business that will plant themselves in the middle of the wild jungle, only to close month's later after being robbed or shot, in which the loss was too incredible (but of course only then you'll say where are the cops?)Doing all of that just puts a band-aid on a problem of which the black community is afraid to address and are dumb enough not to. So get a grip black people and fix your damm neighborhoods and you will see less of a police presence like the white neighborhoods, and if you don't want to do this then stop complaining about the police in your hood, and prepare for more of a demize as your hood will go to the demons of the night. I have read all the comments posted and personally don't agree with any of you so called citizens. Most of the comments were all negative. I agree with one persons comment, that we all need to work together to help solve the problems. But you can't solve anything when no one is really listening. Everyone seems to have their on agenda. Cleveland is no different than any other urban setting. You can't always blame the parents. You can be home with your children and take them to Church (but, because there are other factions pulling them away from the parents. The children would prefer to listen to their peers. As to the police issue, they do use excessive force all the time, whether there is a gun being used in the commission of a crime or not. Their theory is shot first ask questions later. In most of the shooting a crime was being committed, not always. The ones where a teen is frighten of the police and runs needs to be looked at differently. NO CHILD BLACK OR WHITE SHOULD BE SHOT TO DEATH. These police officers are highly trained and should be able to disable a teen, rather than aim to kill. To all those who felt that they (blacks) got what they deserved are viscious and don't care about human beings. Councilwoman Scott has a right to be agree, everytime a shooting happens, the TV, and Newspapers are like vulters and never give the truth. They rush to publish a story before they have all the facts. STOP STEREOTYPING ABOUT BLACKS, THAT A FORM OF RACISM.

Thats another black community cop out.And nobody wants a child shot by the police but, if I am a cop and a child points a gun or tries to run me over....well he's going before me. Do you actually think a cop has time enough to determine the age of the person pointing a gun at him or trying to run him/her over? Do you think they say "whoa...before you shoot me can I see your I.D."? then they say to themselves "Oh I know he's pointing a gun at me and seeing as though he might be underage, I'll have to put away my regular weapon, and, get my underage apprehention weapon." "Dear God, I hope I can do all of this in time before he pulls the trigger on that adult weapon, and blows my brains out, and orphans my well behaved children I so much wanted to see grow up." GET A CLUE !! The kids who commit crimes with weapons or automobiles to hurt or kill Should be shot dead and the parents should go to jail for having punks like them.
