Your say: KSU professor accused of promoting Jihad

Should the Kent State professor be fired if he made pro-Jihad comments in class?

I think he should be investigated by the university and held accountable for his statements. I myself am I college student (not at KSU) and I would personally walk out of his classroom and never come back. He needs to at least face serious punishment.

Yes, as a citizen of Ohio ormer veteran and a taxpayer to his paycheck he should be fired. Why would we keep someone who promotes car bombings and anything against Americans.

If KSU doesn't have the courage to get rid of this man, then college applicants should choose another college. This is rampant at many colleges; the only way it will stop is by American citizens spending their college dollars elsewhere.

The man's tenure should be revoked, and he should be up on charges of treason during wartime, and he should be sent out of this country. There is no place for supporting death of the innocent.

The right of free speach has its limits and responsibilities, and its consequences when abused.

He should be fired from Kent State. Free speech has its limits when it involves the safety of Americans. The classroom is not a pulpit.

If Dr. Pino has the right to encourage and support treason within the United States at one of our foremost universities, and that university chooses to allow him to create treason within their campus, then we, as Americans, have the right to withdraw our children from that university, protest that university's stand on Muslims and Jihadists and hold those in office accountable for treason.

Thinl about it.

First and foremost, is this man a US citizen? Yes we enjoy the right of freedom of speach in this country as US Citizens, but to promote an enemy of the US in window displays and to make writings on webpages is truely an act of treason. He is in a position to poison the minds of young people in a school of higher education. Education that hard working Americans are providing out of pocket for their children.

First of all, of all the choices to hire a prof, why would my college hire such a person out of all the people that could have been top candiates for the job? This just seems silly to me? I have six years under my belt from this college, this embrasses me to the extreme. I now know why I will never attend this university again. This is bad karma, not to mention the killings on May 4th. I believe He has affiliations with the Jihad and should be fired. And KSU needs a total overhaul. Get rid of everyone on the board over there. Start fresh with new members to the entire staff. Let's do it right this time. So many really good fresh faces to choose from now. It's a new century and a new world order. Let us start to act like one.

Muslims claim that they are in a state of war with the entire Western civilization. Anyone in America promoting pro-jihadi views should be removed from ANY educational institutions, and if they are foreginers they should also be deported. Whether they espouse such in the classroom or outside the classroom. If he hates America so much and loves muslims as to promote hatred of America, then he should move to a muslim nation, unless he is here to hurt us, as he put it "muslims are at the gate..."
Let's imagine a professor espouses slavery of blacks through blogs and other means, do you think a university would keep such a person? Unfortunately it is OK to spread hatred of America, although it was the AMERICAN soldiers who saved the lives of millions of muslims in Bosnia...
The bottom line, the INS should also check into this man's background if he is foregin-born.

I think he should be invited to leave Kent State and the country. Advocating the overthrow of our country was NOT protected speech when I was in school and studied our constitution and government. We are in serious danger from within our country. When are we going to wake up and understand that our political correctness is going to be the downfall of our country? At what point do we understand that there is a difference between tolerance and cowardice. We are in danger of becoming a country of cowards. We have people entering our country illegally and yet we are told that we cannot profile our enemies. Congress is struggling to allow illegals to become citizens. That is sending the whole world the message that we are too weak to enforce our own laws. Rome fell from within, are we headed in that direction?

My problem with this professor is that he is being paid with my tax dollars to teach a subject not to advocate for an enemy withwhom we are engaged in a war. He does not have the right to maintain a website which advocates these postions because he is "teaching" in a tax funded State University. He does not have this free speech right anymore than he could advocated for Hitler during WW2. Jan Swetel Painesville

Would that be okay? The man is affiliated with anti-america groups and supporting them financially with money he's making from living and working in the same country that he hates. Kent State would be doing every student a disservice to allow this man to continue to teach there.

Worse than his actions is the appologetic, head in the sand, liberal bias shown by the university. This seems to be common at most colleges across the country. Just look at how the general public feels about this, yet the colleges remain way of out sync, because somehow they have a superposition. The public funds much of their institutional cost, yet public opinion is somehow not valued or given much consideration. It makes me believe that college administrations truly believe they are much smarter and wiser than the rest of us; they are willing to shove their own agenda down the throats of our children.

First: college should never be just a place where one merely memorizes bland facts, but somewhere one learns to think critically. In top colleges, students are exposed to the widest possible variety of views.
Second: A true test of democracy is the difficult and often distasteful duty of every citizen to uphold the CONSTITUTIONAL right of free speech. For democracy to prosper, free speech cannot be restricted just to those with whom we agree. It must include people whose views and opinions we personally abhor.

When Americans start forcing others [including the KSU professor, Sen. McCain, Sen. Obama, Howard Stern, the KKK, abortion protesters et al] from being able to freely present their own opinions and views we may very well find ourselves losing other rights as well future personal and societal gains.

I recall the outcry against Dr. Martin Luther King Jr because of his radical and 'disgusting' speeches about equality and justice for every person, regardless of race, creed or color. Many called for his 'deportation back to Africa with the rest of his kind'. (see other postings)
Dr. King was assassinated for the crime of exercising his right to free speech.
Finally, if people will think back, the first man who spoke out openly for jihad in our country was George Walker Bush. In a speech he called for a crusade against the Islamic 'criminals'. Crusade and Jihad both have the same meaning: holy war...the ultimate oxymoron.

This Pino is a real piece of work. By not only giving moral and verbal support to global jihad, but by refusing to recant his beliefs that such acts are justified, he has clearly demonstrated himself as an enemy of freedom, democracy, Western Culture, and America. Whether or not he is a naturalized citizen is irrelevant at this point. I invite you to take a look at US Code Title 18, Part I, Chapter 115 (Treason, Sedition, and Subversive Activities) http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/html/uscode18/usc_sup_01_18_10_I_20_115.html
The good professor is a near perfect match for nearly every one of these charges. And the simple fact that he has the stones to call critics of his hate speech un-American is out right infuriating. Open discourse against the nation which has provided you the right to free speech is hypocrisy of the highest magnitude. That in of it self leaves him unworthy of ANY of the rights and privileges afforded to real American citizens.

The following is contact information for the KSU history department. Its time for all of you armchair patriots out there to take some form of action and openly express your contempt to these clowns at Kent State. Whoever signs his paycheck should be made to sign their own resignation.
