It ranks 5th, don't get me wrong it was incredible but it certainly didn't ecplise any of the other accomplishments listed.
It ranks number two, behind Jesse Owens. Lebron's incredible show came in the "hostile" environment of the Palace at Auburn Hills. Jesse Owens' came in the belly of the beast - the heart of Nazi Germany under the most intimidating and hostile conditions imaginable - with the world watching.
It ranks #1. Lebron accomplished this against a very talented Detroit team. Lebron showed the determination and talent that will eventually lead to many championships and his ranking of best athlete in the world!!! Lets stop the criticism and enjoy what a blessing this great person/athlete is and how much he means to the city of Cleveland.
Ummm.. you cant compare basketball to the olympics, why not give us comparable moments in basketball?
LeBron's was by far the most dramatic that had a certain near superhuman feature, given the strength of competition, the intensity and ebb and flow of the particular game, the absolutes necessary in terms of score and clock and the singular performance that enabled this to somehow become a "team" victory. Jesse Owens remains the most athletic performance. The unassisted triple play, Feller's rookie performance and Barker's perfect game are more in the nature of rare events unique achievements but without the depth of Lebron's grace, stamina, strength and perseverance under fire.
Hands down -- Jesse Owens is #1 and was a great sports figure as well as a fantastic person off the track field. Definitely, a great role model for kids of any age. Lebron James is #5 on my list. He hasn't proven to me yet that he should even earn a place on this list.
Everybody keeps giving Lebron ALL the credit. Even he is NOT trying to claim ALL the credit. The last time I checked, basketball was a team sport. If the balance of the team stood still, Lebron could not have done what he did
