Make sure your son/daughter knows their roommates. If not, keep all electronics locked up. If not in the dorms, get renters insurance for your kids. My son lives off campus but is still my dependent. His computer, IPOD, and digital camera got stolen 1 week ago.Luckily, my Allstate Homeowners insurance covered a good chunk of the items stolen. You need to check with your homeowners plan. Also, if possible, it's best to have only one (1) roommate and not a whole bunch. It's well worth paying the extra cost for an apartment in a safer neighborhood. OSU is smack in the middle of ghetto when you leave the campus grounds. Also, apartment and slum lords who own rental homes could care less about fixing up or securing their property.
Also, parents be AWARE of RELIGIOUS GROUPS such as the University Bible Fellowship (over at Ohio State). My son got grabbed up his first year at OSU. Mr. Monday, do you recall me contacting you about this three (3) years ago?
Safety is the Number 1 concern, getting into trouble is another concern, and not keeping up with your grades is the last concern. But hopefully, if you have raised your young adults to be responsible people, I am sure they will be fine.
Thank you.

The trains seem to be killing all the drunk people in Bowling Green!
I worry about my daughter's personal safety. A keyring of mace can only help her so much. Adding GPS to her cell phone is on my to do list before she leaves for UCincy in September.
