I heard Tim Hagan says that no convention center was ever financed without public money. That logic does not justify shoving through a regressive tax. I support a medical mart only if it is financed by the local health care conglomerate who pay no property taxes as 'non profits'. Who is kidding whom? All you have to do is look at the huge building investments the Clinic and UH are making. That can only be done if they have capital, which is indirectly financed by the property taxes of the rest of us.

My mayor is such a doofus, I wouldn't take his recommendation on anything!

Ah the story thickens. The mayor wouldn't let Clinic take over Euclid Avenue for a walking park. The clinic screws up planning its parking construction forcing its employees to take a shuttle from downtown adding hours to the employees work week. Has the Medical Mart been brought out to mend the fences or save the day. Stay tuned?

The Medical Mart represents another way to have workers pay their way out of their jobs. The products most likely come from outside the USA and the sales tax acts as a reverse tariff on workers who are the real commodities of Free Trade. The Medical Industry itself is a parasite economically speaking with it primarily supported by taxes including payroll taxes. Reportedly, about 70% pay more in payroll taxes than in income taxes. Now the Medical Mart endorsers want to put on an additional burden with the sales tax increase.
The public sector and the news channels are "snake oil" salesmen.
