Election concerns
Tuesday night's election was another test for Cuyahoga County's Board of Elections. The board has been under scrutiny since May of 2006 when the switch to electronic voting ended with results being delayed for more than a week.
Despite fairly low voter turnout (on average 15%), the board still experienced server crashes that delayed results until the early morning.
In 2008, turnout is expected to be much higher with a presidential election on the line. With Ohio and Cleveland in the media glare, do you feel confident, the county can pull it off smoothly?

Par for the course. Gotta love Cleveland. Failure, failure, failure. And they fired the other Director for what reason?
Let's go back to punch card ballots! Instead of wasting incredible sums of money on various, inaccurate computer voting machines, all I think we ever needed to do to improve voting accuracy was to educated voters to flip their punch cards over and inspect the card for any "hanging chads" or other irregularities. Anyone who owns a computer knows of the various glitches and problems that arise during their use. Computerized voting machines are no exception.
And what about the primary??? Apparently the people at the BOE think the only county-wide contest in 2008 is in November!!!
Sadly, our votes don't really count much anymore. The cost of living is WAY up (food, insurance, utilities, transporation, education, etc.), and good paying, secure jobs are hard to find these days. Corporate and special-interest lobbyists whore themselves and their clients to our politicians and policymakers every day, at the expense of 'we the people' and our real needs, and true democracy in general. Once good paying American jobs are being offshored (moved to) places like India, China, etc., and the line between Democrats and Republicans is increasingly blurred. It's OK to spend billions on an illegal war (Iraq invasion, not Afghanistan), while so many brainwashed citizens are 'up in arms' about what should be 'non-issues' like gay marriage, the pledge of allegiance, and welfare. This is 'smokescreen politics' at its best, as 'the dumbing down of America' continues unabated. In light of this huge 'paradigm shift', how CAN my vote really count nowadays???!!!
