Kucinich Debate Debate
A judge has ruled that Democratic presidential hopeful, Dennis Kucinich, should be allowed to take part in a candidates debate in Nevada. NBC doesn't want him there and says it will seek an immediate hearing with the Nevada Supreme Court.
Do you think Rep. Kucinich should be allowed to take part in the debate?

The mainstream media has been trying to control the political process and this is just another example. They would have us believe that the war and the budget deficit are no longer the primary concerns of the voting public when we all know they are.
NBC originally said that the top four candidates would be invited to participate. When Bill Richardson dropped out, Dennis was number four and received a letter inviting him to the debate, but was later uninvited.
Candidates like Kucinich and Ron Paul should be allowed to participate in these debates if, for no other reason but to expose the fact that there really aren't any differences between any of the front runners. The mainstream media is afraid, and rightly so, that if given a real choice the American voters just might make the right one and end corporate America's free ride on the backs of taxpayers.
Of course Dennis should be allowed to participate! As a volunteer for his campaign in southwest Virginia, I'm disgusted at the way the mainstream media continues to treat him.
Ditto to all the first comments!
I am discused at the Media and the way they treat Paul and Kucinich!
Dennis has a lot to say and keeping him out the way the media had done is not right.
If no one ever hears him how can you choose right?
Ohio is a big state that carries a lot of votes. I would like to know the WHY behind all this!
I want to hear from Ron Paul also but they dont want them there!
Bravo for the Judge!
I am TOTALLY FOR the freedom of speach!!! And I totally agree that the issues he wants to present ARE important.
In concept, I totally agree with fighting to keep a person in the debate...being involved in a flawed political process withOUT OUTSIDE influence is better than the mainstream media telling us what we (should) think...
But I think we are fighting the right battle for the totally WRONG individual...
My questions are:
A why are we fighting over this? He had almost no results from his previous presidential run and still has seemingly very little (if any) in the way of results from his current attempt.
B why doesn't he focus on doing a better job in his own back yard and actually be involved and heck, maybe even do something in his current office...rather than ignore his local supporters and their needs, he's again out traveling the country trying to get elected to an office he really doesn't seem to be qualified to be in and Amercica certainly seems to want someone OTHER THAN him as president!!
Maybe he'd get support if he mastered his current office and then ran for a bigger office...learn to walk before you run... Learn to help a community before you learn to run a country...
C What kind of a person is this guy... Fighting to get into the oval office and saying he's going to win when he doesn't even have the support/votes enough to be on the ballot...
Lastly D What is he telling his constituates about the job he currently has...sorry guys, you elected me but I really don't want this job (I don't care about you all) and no matter how dismal the outlook is, I am going to continue to ignore you (my constituates) spend massive resources and aim for something that is totally out of my reach...
That is the kind of thing we all need to get away from in this messed up world of politics!!!!!!!!!!!
And we wonder why there are so many political jokes worse than lawyer jokes. Or why so few people DON"T bother to vote...you have to choose between the lesser (hopefully lesser) of a few different evils (pick the less bad choice for the oval or any other office).
Smaller government
Lower taxes
Happier citizens
better economy
Kucinich should, without a doubt be allowed to participate in the debate. It is a blatant attempt at MSNBC to mute Kucinich's ability to speech on behalf of his campaign. They have no right to bar the American people from being able to see the views of all the presidential candidates available. Why are they trying to keep him quiet? Quite possibly because whenever Kucinich begins to gain support they get scared that he actually might have a chance.
How blatantly disrespectful to uninvite someone from a debate.
No way. He's just looking for publicity. That's it. I don't know how people actually take him seriously.
Dennis Kucinich is one of the most honest and genuine candidates of the whole bunch. Many Americans, Democrat and Republican, can identify with his platform. However, with such poor exposure from our media gatekeepers, his chances at even being considered for a party nomination are dwindling. I think this is a terrible shame.
If the parent networks are going to keep doing this, I think that the local affiliates should band together across the lines of individual ownership. This form of censorship is yet another way that the media is able to influence our views and opinions by selecting what we hear and see. As an aspiring broadcaster, I find this terribly disturbing and when I get my chance, I will do whatever I can to level this situation. Hopefully it won't take that long.
I feel Dennis Kucinich should be allowed to participate in tonights debate. People should be able to hear what he has to stay and where he stands on the issues.
I do not think networks should be deciding who can and cannot participate in public debates. MSNBC may be sponsoring the debate but it is of public interest for persons running for office to be heard. If Dennis is not allowed then I think this is the beginning of mega news media outlets controlling what the public gets to see, read and hear. Especially in light of the constant consolidations within the news/publishing/media companies.
i concur it seems the media is telling us how to vote and that is not the way it should be, i feel that we as americans should hear every candidates say on matters whether they have high popularity or not, that can be changed in an instant. popularity does not produce results, only willingness to succeed and the knowledge on how to do so.
Can Kucinich make us here in Cleveland look more like fools? This moron is now running for President and Congress at the same time what type of job does he truly want or can your cake and eat it too. What an embarasement to our region.
Mr. Kucinich should not be allowed to participate in the debate. He has made his case several times over, for over 4 years, ignoring his district except to come back and grandstand every time a union issue arises, and the people have decided in every case that he is not a factor in the presidential election. He is an embarassment to me personally as my Congressman and the only thing I give him credit for is running for President in order to get a date and marry over his head, (literally and figuratively). It beats the heck out of Match.com - let the American people finance your hunt for a running mate! What is he looking for this time?
Of Course he should be able to debate, he is a presidential candidate running a national campaign, partially funded by Federal matching funds. To those Clevelanders who are ashamed I want to say that you should be proud to have a representative with the integrity and the guts to stand up for the American people time and again regardless of whether it is politically 'safe' or not. We here in Maine are stuck with a virtually spineless Congressman who gets NOTHING done!
Be Proud of your congressman, he is a gem!
With the expected exclusion of Kucinich from the Nevada debate, it's obviously apparent how the system works. Kinda like the polling process. When you limit the kind of questions asked, you also limit the number of possible answers. Until we start asking WHY 75% of us think the country is headed in the in the wrong direction we'll never be able to steer it onto the right course.
As long as we have Clinton, Obama and Edwards as our corporate designated choices our solutions will be limited.
Tonight's debate is a farce. Compare it to asking someone if he still beats his wife. Maybe it's time to stop participating in the electoral process entirely because it only encourages them. Unfortunately the way the system is weighted, the qualities that make a person a good candidate and fund raiser are the same qualities that make them unfit to hold public office.
Yes, we do need change, but not in the sense of changing a twenty for two fives and a ten. This is the change in which our mainstream, corporate owned media wants to limit us.
This was a very sad day for america and only hastens the death of free thinking, free speech and freedom of choice. THEY'LL REPORT (or not), AND THEY'LL DECIDE!
Is this what we want?
Exactly Jim! Kucinich is an embarrassment to the constituents who ignorantly voted him yet again into a position to ignore their needs in Washington. I have voted against his tired rhetoric for as long as I have been able to vote. He is just out to get himself publicity and that is all. For shame, D.K. For Shame!
MSNBC & and the Demo-kraut canidates are both a joke, the only people they are looking out for is their big corporate partners.
The only words I hear coming out of the demo-krauts mouths is slander and what this country needs. Not one of them have a plan to repair this country. Its more of the same old Washington BS people have become a custom to.
Clinton is completely worthless, who is just playing the gender card to get votes. Obama is sneaky and dishonest, while playing the race card. Edwards, well he is just sitting there hoping someone will screw up bad enough, where he can slip in.
Dennis Kucinich might have no chance in hell of winning, but at least he address's the issues.
Certainly, Dennis Kucinich should be allowed to participate in the debates. He is the ONLY candidate who is truly addressing the real issues that matter most, and is thus a real patriot and great public servant! He is an ASSET to our community, and I respect him greatly!
