Tribe Memories
The 2008 Indians season is here and with it comes all the expectations and excitement.
As we look ahead to the season that is just beginning, we're also looking back to some of the memories we have built with the Indians throughout the years.
Sports can truly link generations.
We've asked the staff at Channel 3 to share some of their memories, now we're asking for yours.

My best memory of recent Indians baseball was just last year, when the NY Yankees swept them TWICE! Sure, The Tribe beat The Yanks in the playoffs, but nonetheless LeBron and I were thrilled when our boys swept you not once, but TWICE! BACK TO BACK!
Best memory has to be seeing John Adams throw out the first pitch at Game 1 of the ALDS '07! We love you John!
Oh yeah, it also helped that our Tribe creamed the Yankees that game too 12-3 :).
GO TRIBE! WELCOME BACK!
One of my many favorite memories was when the Indians were playing in cincy. It was the last year that river front stadium would be standing. Jim Thome was up to bat and he crushed a homer over the right feild wall. Then Juan Gone was up to bat and he hit a home ruin so deap that it landed in Great American ballpark because the corner of the new ballpark came into River front. Also Bartolo Colon was on the mound throwing 101 and 102 mph in the seventh inning. The next year in the new great american ballpark the Indians beat the reds 15 to 3.
Every year is a great year for the Tribe regardless of where they finish!
For me, serving as honorary bat boy in 1971 for a game against the twins has been a highlight of my life!! I picked Ray Fosse as the guy I wanted to hang out with for the day. The love of baseball, then as a 7 year old and now as a 43 year old will always be there as long as I live!!
my favorite tribe memories have too be being at the game in 95 against the toronto blue jays and the indians came back from 8-0 down too win the game on paul sorrentos home run that was something that was a very special yr and plus seeing the indians in the world series for the first time that yr was awsome too.i really believe this yr will be a very special season for the indians and the indians fans were going too have a october too remember.
My favorite memory was watching Jim Thome hit a home run out of the park then watching the fireworks after the game while the American flag was waving in the smoke.
My best Indians memory is Allie Reynolds pitching a no hitter against the Indians. If memeory serves Bobby Avila made the last out.
My favorite memory of the Indians was on August 5, 2001 vs the Seattle Mariners. We were down 12-0 and 14-2 during the game and came back to win 15-14! One of the biggest comebacks in MLB history. I remember going crazy as they were making their comeback and after they won, I was just amazed at what just happened! The greatest regular season game ever and one that I will never forget!! GO TRIBE!!
hello my name is rochell ford.my best memories was taking my eight children. last year on my daughter birthday and it was snowing.that is true and thats true for us.even though i had eight kids with me it was still very cold and nice.and we still root, root, root, go tribe.where is slider.but hope to enjoy.god bless the tribe.
I am a 96 year old man. On my ninetieth birthday my kids and grandkids thought it would be a good idea to take me and my late wife Thelma (her ninetieth birthday was one week later than mine) to an Indians game. Thelma did not like sports but reluctantly came along. During the game, someone hit the ball into the stands, the ball hit a rafter, and then hit Thelma in the head, breaking her glasses and knocking her out. When she finally came to, all she kept saying was "where am I? who are you? who am I?" We had to rush her to the emergency room. After a week, her memory came back. My son called the Indians front office and asked, as a nice gesture, if they would at least pay for her new glasses. The guy said "yeah, right. Sure. Send us the bill pal" and hung up. Thelma's been gone now for five years and we're still waiting for them to pay the bill. I know Thelma can't use the glasses anymore, but it would be a nice gesture on their part. Thank you.
I'll never forget the game on 9/23/07 when the Tribe became the Central Division Champions! It was the most exciting game I have ever witnessed! Let's do it again!
The year I became a tribe fan was in 1991....my boyfriend at the time took my college roomies and me to the home opener. We were instantly hooked and went to many home openers. That boyfriend is now my husband....we just welcomed twin girls who I'm sure will be HUGE tribe fans if we have any say in the matter. They already have their share of tribe gear and they are only 6 months old!
I have seen many Thome home runs at our park. How many has he hit here in Cleveland? My guess is that he is the all time leader, for sure in recent history. Let us know, huh? Thanks from Chagrin Falls.
PS. Wish I was there.
1997 ALDS, game 5, against the Yankees . . . I was there with my Dad and son, 3 generations, one team, against the hated foe! Tribe leads late, and my son and I start counting down the outs . . . 9 more outs we chanted, then 8 more outs, etc. to the end of the game, inning by inning. My Dad later told me it was pretty obnoxios, but hey, it was the Tribe beating the Yankees to move on in the playoffs! AND WE WON!!!!!
