Is Anyone Outraged by the Behavior of Politicians?

Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann on Friday admitted to an extramarital affair with an employee in his office. It was the latest revelation in a sex scandal that led to the firings of two of Dann's top aides. Two other AG staffers, including the woman Dann had the affair with, also resigned.

Dann however said he will not resign and is working to regain the trust of voters.

This is the latest in a string of sex scandals involving elected officials. Does an admission of an extramarital affair on the part of a leader matter to voters? Should it?

Sex is just human nature. Too often we're expected to look at the politicians as almost role models and nothing more. One little slip up can have so much impact on future endeavors. We didn't elect Mr. Dann for his personal life, we put him there because he was good at his job and still is in my opinion. Let the man do his job.

Dann just trumped the local guys. Who's next? Both sides of the aisle are corrupt and keep feeding at the public troft. All a bunch of egotists.

Sure let Dann do his job. Let him use OUR MONEY to take his girlfriend to Turkey (though someone had the brains to deny it)! Let him hire his political buddies on OUR DIME so they can pick up some women. Let Dann conduct a workplace environment full unprofessionalism. He is doing such a great job respecting our system of government, let's keep him around. Sure I say, let the man do his job. Find another employee to hook up with I say!

iam not surprised, but yes outraged.too often our "leaders" do a poor job of just that, leading!they always make excuses for their behavior and expect people to still trust them. if you choose to represent the public, then you need to act with a little more self control.he should never have acted that way at work or anywhere else!!!keep your personal buisness out of your job!!!

Can anything be done about the epidemic of dirty old guys and the fatherless daughters that play with them? I wish I had the time to play Big-Daddy Vegas. I'd like to vote for morals. What a boring fantasy.

More 'smokescreen politics' here. WHO CARES???!!! Ohio, and the United States, has SO MANY MORE PRESSING AND URGENT PROBLEMS, CHALLENGES, AND ISSUES than someone having an affair! This is yet just another lame, diversionary, 'smokescreen', NON-ISSUE to be used by both parties in stalling REAL CHANGE. There should have been a revolution in this country a LONG TIME AGO.

He wasn't elected because he is "good at his job". He won the election because he had a 'D' after his name, in a anti 'R' year... Remember this when you go out and vote in Nov2008!

Leadership is about Trust. Anyone who will cheat on their spouse cannot be trusted to lead others.
An affair with a staff member is even more despicable, since it undermines the workforce by creating sexual politics in the workplace. Dann must resign NOW!

As the elected leaders of our country, state, and local areas, politicians should hold themselves to the same standards that their constituents hold themselves to every day. When a public figure fails to uphold the image of the office they are elected to they should immediately resign in order to maintain the integrity of the position. A failure to resign indicates a severe lack of character and judgement.

What's really interesting is that so much attention is spent on the AG's office. HELLO take a look at other agencies EEOC process. Dann's office just got caught. This type of thing is going on in other State offices. There are NO protections against EEOC matters for Union Employees in State Government. The EEOC personnel are part of management and will do anything to cover up the complaints. Duh!!! Do your research on what lawsuits have been filed against State Agencies in the Federal and State Courts in the last couple of years. It'll make you hair turn gray. That is if you have any.

I hear let him do his job, and that we have more pressing issue's than his personal life. Well maybe if more of our politicans were doing their jobs and less messing around Ohio and America would not be in the mess we are in. We trusted him that when elected he was going to work hard for the people of Ohio, I guess he got the party-hard part down pretty good. Now how about some work hard!!

We need to 'clean house' starting at the township level, the city level, the state level, on till we reach the Federal government level.

These people are sick!!!

It is time to vote for the guy who lives a clean life and will do a good job for us.

Popularity vote has to stop!!

The Attorney General has an obligation to uphold a high moral standard both professionally and personally. Here's this so called professional carrying on like his office is a college dormitory. He openly carries on an affair with a fellow staffer and includes 3 additional individuals who are suppose to uphold higher standards both publicly and personally. If our Ohio Attorney General cannot be trusted as a husband or the Attorney General, how can anyone trust his legal decisions? I want him to resign before he disgraces the AG office any further.

Great! So the women are forced to resign. Dann's flunkies are fired, but Dann keeps his position and declares that he's doing a "great job" for Ohio!

Dann's office was complicit in protecting a habitual DUI-offender and sexual harasser.

The people at the bottom always have to take the fall for the actions of the top of the political pyramid!

At least Ted Strickland has the guts to go after the Democratic corruption!

All I can say is if it was a Republican, the Democratic controlled Cuyahoga County would be calling for his head. Everyone makes mistakes, but it seems that residents of Cuyahoga County love to bash any Republican that slips up while allowing to let the Democrats slide. Did anyone ever think that Cuyahoga County is such a mess because it has been controlled by the Democratic Party for years??? No wonder why so many people are moving to Summit, Lake, Geauga, and Portage Counties.

The recent stories about Ohio gov't. have been bad enough, but in the ATTORNEY GENERAL'S office! Shame on all of them. We deserve someone with ethics and he needs to be a real man and resign! He can mend his ways somewhere else.
Same with anyone else with bad and juvenile habits and playtime.

I'ts not a Republican or Democrat thing. Nationally, BOTH parties have been plagued by sex scandals, and jobs are leaving Ohio mostly due to outsourcing, and countries like China or India 'undercutting' production costs as companies increasingly move production there! I've lived in 4 states: FL, NY, NJ, and OH, and once good U.S. manufacturing base is dying everywhere you go in this country... it's a HUGE 'paradigm shift' that can't be blamed or pinned on just one party. Global capitalism is the problem, and it is unstoppable. The 'glory days' of the U.S. are over.

To those that do NOT support the dismissal of Marc Dann, please leave Ohio and take Marc Dann with you. We've had enough. And please take DiMora, Hagan, Jones, Sherrod Brown, O'Malley, Russo, and Bill Mason with you.

How can Marc Dann not resign? He has exposed the State of Ohio to a potential lawsuit because of his behavior. Even though Jessica Utovich chose to resign over her behavior, she can easily show that working in the Attorney General's office had become a "intimidating, hostile, or offensive work environment". It does not matter what role she played i the affair or even if the sexual contact was consensual. This is Federal civil rights law that is applicable to ALL employers, including State government offices. Should the citizens of Ohio be expected to fund the potential resolution of jessica's potential lawsuit?

What a pathetic excuse for a public servant. He had no intention of winning and then performing this job. And then when he was swept into office on the coat tails of others he had no clue how to run the office. Clearly, he has lousy taste in friends and associates. It makes one wonder just what was the end goal of running and getting his name out before the public? Governor in 4 or eight years, the state legislature, representative to D.C.? God forbid! Public office is not the place to throw frat parties and live like Animal House characters. I suppose he thought he had 'arrived'. What an idiot!

Not resign?? Are you kidding me?? He was the leader of the crusade to change the mortgage laws...in his opinion they were unethical well is an affair is ethical? Wow...thanks for having an affair and now if you lose your job you can stand in the unemployment line with my husband...one of the mortgage brokers you put out of business. Can anyone say Karma??

Marc Dann needs to resign now America is in a recession and the gas and food prices are outrageous if everyone would quit driving thier cars and take public transpiration which would only cost 60.00 a month not a 100.00 for parking downtown and quit shopping at the major grocery stores and shop at the mom-n-pop stores which by the way can be much cheaper than the major grocery stores prices might be able to come down these politicans are nothing be greed and power and money hungary.America it is time we took back our country and not let the politicans run it any more. The Constitituion of the United States of Amercia clearly states WE THE PEOPLE NOT WE THE POLITICIANS.

I would first like to say that I feel sorry for MArc Dann's family...

With that said; I feel Marc Dann should be brought up on criminal charges that would drive him from office!
He knew this stuff was going on, he took part of it and it should be considered 'Theft in Office'!

How can we expect this guy to do right by the taxpayers when he can't do right by his own family?

Marc Dann; You and any other man that abuses your power over women are nothing but 'Panty Waisted Punks' You probably spent too much time under your daddies sheets and this is now your claim to power...?

And his self proclaimed suffering.., LOL It seems that the pain is alwyas after they get caught, isn't it?

And for the record, this is not a Democratic problem, or a Republican win, this is a continued loss for women, family and the taxpayer.

His conduct is outright pathetic, unconscionable and should be embarassing to everyone in Ohio Democrat or Republican. Hypocrites like this need to be removed and removed quickly. We've suffered enough. Im beginning to think Ohio is just plain jinxed.

Politics aside, he needs to go no matter if you are a Republican or Democrat. He is the biggest of hypocrics and basically ran a frat house. No excuses for someone that behaves like the law does not apply when he is supposed to be the person upholding to the umpteenth.

Clearly, Marc Dann continues to exercise the same poor judgement that got him into this mess. Virtually all of his peers are calling for him to resign yet he remains stubbornly insolent. An impeachment will subject the foolish woman he took advantage of to unwelcome public scrutiny. I guess he's willing to throw her under the bus to save his ample butt. I guess the old saying, "the bigger they are the harder they fall" is true here, both literally and figuratively!
