Starr Sightings: Inside Studio A - "No Mouse?"

I've been trying to blog since before the show started, but I've been busy! Today is the first day Jeff and Kim are using the laptops during the show. Trying to log on has been an issue since about 8:00 this morning. Jeff was a little upset that there was no mouse. He wasn't quite sure what to make of it so I showed him how laptops work without the mouse. Once that was resolved, I thought Jeff and Kim would be fine on their own because they email all the time from their desks in the newsroom. Nope! We asked for viewer emails about the Cavs and Jeff and Kim were instructed to forward them to producer Caitlin so she can put the emails on graphics for you to see at home. Having to open the emails, then forward them, then close out of the screen to get to new messages was a bit of a problem. I normally have a little time on commercial breaks where I can blog quickly, but today I have had no time. I have been on set with them trying to help.

Now the fun part.

Jeff and Kim decided to make the request for viewer emails a competition. They started counting to see who had more emails. They bantered awhile and then Jeff noticed his computer was no longer working. He asked me to take a look at it but we were coming out from a commercial break so I told him it would have to wait until the next break. Meanwhile, Kim continued reading and counting her emails. Jeff was a little distracted during the block because Kim's computer was working just fine and his wouldn't even turn on. He was worried his emails were lost. So, during the next commercial break, I realized the computer had come unplugged. I fixed it and the competition was back up and running. Good thing it wasn't anything more serious because I don't think I could have fixed it! But hey, I looked like a computer genius, if only for one show. :)

Our viewers also had some fun with this by sending Kim emails saying they didn't have a comment on the Cavs, as we requested, but that they did hope she would win so they sent in emails so she would have more. Thank to our viewers for playing along!

By the end of the show, I think Jeff decided he liked using the laptop. He told Kim, "I'm so down with this!"

Stay tuned,
Jess Starr
