"I Want My MTV!" Part Deux

MTV has come up with a "band-aid" to appease those folks still angry that a channel named "Music Television" no longer shows music videos.

The channel has returned, somewhat, to its musical roots by launching MTVmusic.com, an ad supported site with loads of music videos dating back to the network's original popularity surge.

So far, here are the top 10 most viewed videos on the new site...
1. Money For Nothing by Dire Straits
2. Womanizer by Britney Spears
3. Heroes by David Bowie
4. Once in a Lifetime by Talking Heads
5. Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Astley
6. Welcome To The Jungle by Guns N' Roses
7. Video Killed The Radio Star by The Buggles
8. Under Pressure by Queen and David Bowie
9. Me Myself and I by De La Soul
10. Space Oddity by David Bowie

Wow, does one of those songs not fit in or what? Anyhow, it is a fun, nostalgic look back at the great music videos that started it all so I thought I'd share it.

First we have a local author's book...About her beloved welsh pony...Miss Pearl. It's called "Tee Hee" by Indigo Carmen. The book has a simple message...It's about being a good person...The lessons are taught by the pony, Miss Pearl. If your child loves horses...They'll be delighted by the photos of Miss Pearl wearing hats and glitter on her hooves.

And we love recommendations from you...Jessica our floor director, brought in the book "I Love You So" by Marianne Richmond. It's about how much parents love their children...Even when mom and dad are grouchy or away. Thank you Jessica.

And then in honor of halloween, "The Halloween Play" by Felicia Bond. You'll love the adventures of roger the mouse and what happens at the halloween play. It's a funny book perfect for this time of year.

Bookworm Buzz: Something Old-Something New!

What could be better to read to a 4 year old named Max, than "Where The Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak. The little boy in the book is named Max too...so my son just loves it. The Wild Things in the book are not scary, but cute. There are so many memorable lines like "let the wild rumpus start!" I just love this book and others by Sendak, including "In the Night Kitchen."
My other recent find is "The Little Red Fish" by Taeeun Yoo. It's the story of a little boy going to work with his grandfather and taking his fish. The illustrations really caught my eye and my son's imagination. It is a wonderful book.
Then, on Saturday's AM show we had the local author Libbi Chilia come in and talk about her book "Imagine....Amazing Me!" It is dedicated to her 4 year old daughter Sami. It is a book about children with "limb differences." The photos of children doing all the activities that typical children do...really sends a wonderful message. This is a book that can help you explain differences to your children whether they have challenges or not. It can go along way to promote understand.

Kim's Bookworm Buzz

In honor of the OSU game against Wisconsin, we have a football theme going this Saturday for the Bookworm Buzz! My little Buckeyes at home have loved the book, "It's Fun To Be A Buckeye!" by Amy Wurth Fowble. The kids will love saying O-H-I-O.

My other favorite football book is "By My Brother's Side,"by NBC's Tiki Barber and Ronde Barber. It's a great story about twin brothers and sibling relationships. The twin brothers have written more wonderful books too.

Thanks to viewer Jane Ocepek, my third pick is "If You Take A Mouse To School," by Laura Numeroff. Jane's favorite is "If You Give A Mouse A Cookie," and there are plenty others by this author. The mouse is adorable and I love the illustrations.

Our celebrity pick is Romona's favorite childhood story, the classic, "Little Red Riding Hood."

Send me your favorites! Happy Reading, Kim
