Oreos Selling Our Blog?

Of the more than 240 posts that we have written here on the Weekend Morning Show Blog, who would've thought that the one that would draw the most attention would be one written by Kim Wheeler on July 12th, 2008 about Oreo cookies. That day on Channel 3 News Today, we had a couple of ladies on who had participated in the DSRL (Double Stuf Racing League) Oreo Lick Race.

Brothers Peyton and Eli Manning were the original faces of the DSRL, but now that Serena and Venus Williams have entered the picture and challenged the Manning brothers, interest in the event has increased. Therefore, I have concluded that interest in the event = more web searches for the event = more people finding Kim's story about the event = more people finding our blog which has absolutely nothing to do with the event. No matter the journey someone travels to find our blog, we'll take it. To view Kim's original post... CLICK HERE.

And hey, while you're here, check out all the cool things we have to offer on WKYC.com!

Oreo Licking Contest..what??

So this may be the strangest segment ever on our morning show! Caitlin booked our local finalists for the first ever Oreo Lick Race...we had three local ladies on the show who were selected because they enter sweepstakes contests and entered one for the Oreo contest.

I might even enter if I could meet Peyton and Eli Manning, who started this contest! They had to lick the frosting out of the middle of the Oreos, then dip the cookies in milk and eat them. The ladies didn't win the finals but did really well. They even showed us their technique...Producer Caitlin asked if I would like to take part in our live Oreo contest...I passed on that chance.

Jeff and I both agree, we will never look at an Oreo the same again. The ladies were adorable and it was a fun way to end the newscast.

It was great that we were all back today together. Director Matt was back with us after welcoming his adorable little girl into the world. I think he may feel what many of us do, as we head back to work with little ones at home...that separation is so hard! His wife even sent him a photo on his cellphone during the newscast of little Mackenzie sleeping (but listening to our show!)

See you tomorrow...our live webcat will be up again, Kim (hopefully Jeff will figure out how to sign on)
