Here's a look back at the starting quarterbacks:

Ty Detmer: He was the first starting quarterback when the Cleveland Browns returned to the NFL in 1999. He started just one game before being replaced by rookie Tim Couch.

Tim Couch: He was the Browns' first first-round pick when they returned to the NFL in 1999. By playing five seasons in Cleveland, he is the longest tenured of any of the Browns' quarterbacks since 1999.

Doug Pederson: He made eight starts for the Browns during the 2000 season and completed 117 of his 210 throws for 1,047 yards with two touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Spergon Wynn: He started just one game for the Cleveland Browns in 2000. He completed 22 throws for 167 yards in a losing effort

Kelly Holcomb: Over a four-year run with the Cleveland Browns, he made 12 regular-season starts and threw for 429 yards and three touchdowns in the team's only playoff appearance since 1999, a 2003 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Jeff Garcia: He had just three wins in 10 starts for the Cleveland Browns in 2004, but he remains the only opening-day starter to win since 1999.

Luke McCown: He was 0-4 during his lone season with the Browns in 2004. He completed just 49 percent of his throws and four touchdowns against seven interceptions.

Trent Dilfer: He went 4-7 in his 11 starts with the Cleveland Browns during the 2005 season, his second to last in the NFL.

Charlie Frye: He made 19 starts over three years with the Cleveland Browns, but was traded shortly after his final one in a season-opening loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2007, a season in which the Browns went 10-5 after the deal with Seattle.

Derek Anderson: He led the Browns to a 10-5 record in 2007 after Charlie Frye was traded to the Seattle Seahawks. He earned Pro Bowl honors following the season, but was benched for Brady Quinn the next year.

Brady Quinn: The Browns traded back into the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft to select Brady Quinn, but the Columbus native won just three of his 12 starts with his home-state team.

Ken Dorsey: In three years with the Cleveland Browns, he went 0-3 in three starts.

Bruce Gradkowski: In his lone start with the Cleveland Browns, he completed five of his 16 throws with two interceptions in a 31-0 loss to the Steelers in 2008.

Jake Delhomme: He was a free-agent signing of former President Mike Holmgren, but suffered a high-ankle sprain in the first game of the season and struggled to find success in his lone year in Cleveland in 2010.

Seneca Wallace: He spent two seasons with the Browns, and made seven spot starts. He won just one of his starts with the Browns.

Colt McCoy: He was a third-round pick of the Browns in the 2011 season. He threw 21 touchdowns against 20 interceptions in 24 games with the team.

Brandon Weeden: He was a first-round pick of the Cleveland Browns in the 2012 NFL Draft, but he was released by the team after compiling a 5-15 record in two seasons.

Thaddeus Lewis: He started the 2012 season finale for the Browns at the Pittsburgh Steelers and completed 22 of his 32 throws for 204 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

Jason Campbell: He played in nine games and made eight starts for the Browns during the 2013 season. He completed 180 throws for 2,015 yards and 11 touchdowns against eight interceptions.

Brian Hoyer: The Cleveland native went 10-6 as a starting quarterback for the Browns over the 2013 and 2014 seasons, but the front office went in a different direction during the 2015 offseason.

Johnny Manziel: He is just 1-4 as a starter with the Cleveland Browns. He was named starting quarterback for the final six weeks of the 2015 regular season. But just one week later, he was benched

Connor Shaw: He played through several injuries to make the start for the Cleveland Browns in the 2014 regular-season finale at Baltimore.

Josh McCown: He set a pair of franchise records, including the most single-game passing yards in a win over Baltimore. He is the current starting quarterback.
