Snowy Sunday: Weather recap with lake effect snow impacting portions of Northeast Ohio

CLEVELAND — It was a snowy Sunday as portions of Northeast Ohio were impacted by accumulating lake effect snow.

The impacts, however, were felt in just a handful of counties as winter weather alerts were in effect for Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula counties. While those weather alerts were expected to remain in effect until 2 p.m. Sunday, they all expired a bit earlier than expected.

As the wintry weather impacted portions of the region, we posted real-time updates throughout the story below to help you monitor the snow as the morning evolved happening. Below is a full recap of today's wintry weather.

6:41 a.m. The National Weather Service in Cleveland says many roads across the region "are snow-covered and travel is very hazardous."

6:06 a.m. The National Weather Service in Cleveland says the band of lake effect snow will become less organized as it moves inland this morning.
